Query regarding attribution for hand-drawn image

Hey, everyone!

I recently came across some free vectors on Vecteezy that require attribution. However, I am trying to enhance my drawing skills by creating as many assets for my project on my own. Hence, I manually drew the vector I found online using Procreate on my iPad along with my Apple Pencil. The only difference between my drawing and the original vector is the shape, otherwise, I used similar colors.

I'm wondering whether it is necessary to give credit to the original vector file owner, considering I did not directly use it in my project. I would appreciate any clarification on this matter. Thank you in advance for your help!

ok

My general recommendation: If you ask if you should give credit, give credit. It costs you nothing and demonstrates integrity.

Something as simple as "Inspired by..." or "Based on..." could work well.

It depends on how similar the images are, and whether someone might confuse your image for the original.

Be sure to check the license for the "free" art, too: Some may require attribution for any derivative art work, and have specific language for how that is done.
