I'm currently experiencing an issue with my iPhone 12 Pro and I believe it might be due to the recent update to iOS 17 Developer Beta 2. Here's a more streamlined version of the steps I've taken and the problem I'm encountering.
I initiated a transition from my iPhone 11 Pro to a pre-reset iPhone 12 Pro, following these steps:
-
Began the Quick Start process, where I set my preferred language, region, etc.
-
I was prompted to (optionally i believe) update to iOS 17 Developer Beta 2. I'd been using this Beta version on my old device without significant issues, just the occasional UI bug, which is common for beta versions. I do suspect that this might have caused the issue.
-
Upon completion of the update, I found myself unable to unlock my phone on the welcome screen. Here's a more detailed description of the situation:
The touchscreen is functioning as I'm getting touch feedback. The issue arises when the lockscreen overlay / modal appears; it's displayed for an extremely brief period. The circular digit buttons are responsive, but there's not enough time to input the passcode. A similar issue happens with the Shut Down / Emergency overlay - it's only visible for a very short duration. Interestingly, the info icon at the bottom-right of the welcome screen works fine. I can tap it and view all the regulatory certifications by region.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I've already attempted without success:
-
I let the battery drain completely and then tried the below solutions.
-
Force Restarting (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iph8903c3ee6/ios)
-
I've tried Restoring / Upgrading the device using both a MacBook's Finder window and Windows iTunes.
-
I've also attempted restoring in DFU mode using a standard USB cable, not a lightning to type C.
PS: I am not interested in trying sketchy third-party apps claiming to fix this, nor jail-breaking the phone / hacky input scripts, etc.
Thanks!!
