AirDrop Appears to Work but Photos can't be found on MacBook

I have an iPhone 14 pro and a new MacBook with M2 chip with latest version of software on both. Phone is runnig iOS 17.0 and computer is running, Ventura 13.5.2.

When I attempt to AirDrop a photo from my iPhone to my MacBook, it appears to be working and makes the sounds and shows the icon as photo is being sent.

However, the photo does not appear in downloads folder and is seemingly no where to be found on my MacBook. I continyue to wait and continue to update both devices with newest software hoping this bug has been fixed but it does not seem to have been.

This is very frustrating, I would greatly appreciate help if someone can provide. Many thanks in advance!!
