modifying Outgoing Servers in Mail

The option to edit your incoming mail server is grayed out because of the new option in Yosemite to "Automatically detect and maintain account settings." Disable that option in the advanced settings of your account in Mail, click back to General settings, and select save settings on the popup that appears. Then you will be able to edit your incoming mail server.

I can confirm this method worked for me. Dot Mac email address now sending emails again.

The problem is with outgoing servers.... Can't edit the list of outgoing servers so I continually get errors.

This solution does work for outgoing servers.

• Select the account with the problem and click on the Advanced tab. Uncheck the first item in the list "automatically detect and maintain account settings".
• Now click on the Account Information tab and uncheck "Use on this server"
• Select the Outgoing Mail Server drop down list. Select Edit SMTP servers and you should now see your missing servers listed in the server list name.

iCloud server reappareared for me at that point and when selected it all worked agian with the correct outgoing server. I rechecked the two boxes again once it was all working.

nope doesn't work.

The issue I have is that there are servers on the list of outgoing servers that are not connected to any of my accounts.. Mail still seems to want to check if they're alive and when they fail, Mail shows an error...

I want to remove those servers from the list but the dialog that shows the list and offers "+" and "-" for adding and removing servers doesn't work... (+ and - buttons inactive)

These work fine in the previous versions of OS X.. don't seem to work here..
