iCloud storage trouble

Since about a week after upgrading to the iOS9 beta, I've been getting warnings that I'm approaching my 20Gb storage limit on iCloud.

Before upgrading my test devices (iPhone6, iPad Air, iPad Mini) I was using around 8Gb of my 20Gb storage on iCloud.

I've tried managing my storage from my iPhone, but the numbers just don't add up.....

iCloud Photo Library 6.5Gb

Backups 4.4Gb

Documents and Data 23.7Mb

Mail 14.7Mb

I can only get this to total to about 10.9Gb so "Where did my other 9Gb go??"

When I login to iCloud online and go to settings it tells a different story, and suddenly Backups are using 13.34Gb.

The problem is that I can't see the HUGE backups that are eating my storage so how can I manage them??

The same is happening with me with icloud saying that I have just 2.1 GB free out of 200GB. I just checked online and it's reporting 184GB in backups, despite my iphone backup being 30GB and my ipad backup being 12GB, and 30GB for photos.

Same here I just got the message this morning that my storage is almost full. Backups only about 4GB out of 20GB available. Not sure how they are getting these numbers, but had plenty last week until this morning.

Same issue here - in iOS I see two backups (iPad & iPhone) totalling 15GB. When I look at iCloud storage in OS X 71GB is showing as being used for backups!!

I am seeing the same thing. Must be a bug in iCloud in iOS 9 that is causing the backups to be considerably large, or registering at a large amount causing iCloud to fill up.

There is an existing thread with a couple of options on this issue...

Same here. I dont even have my ios9 device backing up to icloud. I had contacted Apple support not even thinking about the ios 9 device and on their end my storage shows correctly that I have 8gb free. However on two iphones both now running 8.4 it is incorrect shows only 200mb, on my mac runing 10.10.4 it is incorrect an ipad running 9 it is incorrect and logging into icloud it shows Im almost out of space.

Apple support said its related to the ios9 device and had me open a ticket with developer support which I did.

I'm recieving trouble aswell.

An icloud Backup done on my iPhone 6 on iOS 9 beta 1 weeks ago seemed to cause the trouble.

From beta 1 there was no chance of deleting the backup.

When beta 2 came out i was able to delete it - but the storage was still used.

Contacting Apple Support didn't bring anything. They told me to contact developer support wich -oh wonder- doesn't give support for pre-release software.

So i ended up here and hope to find a solution.

Since one week the "ghost storage" is no more in the backup section, its now allocated in the documents section. Deleting all of my backups to maybe get rid of this problem wasn't a big deal to me. But backup, delete and re-upload all of my documents seems a pain. Especially with this little chance of a solution.

Hope Apple is fixing this soon!

Im in same boat. i have a fantom 4gb backup which i cant delete on the ios devices or indeed in teh mac icloud panel (there's nothing to delete, but it shows on the metre). I ended up paying to upgrade my storage because it.

I do think it's unreasble that Apple refuses to support people on betas. At least teh dev support should cover us. What are people doing with teh publc betas? do they really get no cover? I find that hard to accept in my head!
