When I try to open Xcode, it tries to open the previous windows and load up the project I was last working on, but I can’t create a new project without opening Xcode, and I can’t do that; it just quits and gives me an Xcode quit unexpectedly, and it still happens when I download earlier versions of Xcode from the Apple developer website and the latest from the App Store, and I even when in Finder and tried to open my project that way, and it just does the same thing. I have tried everything, and I mean everything. I even reinstalled macOS, and it worked for a minute until it tried to open my project and then quit again and is doing the same thing.
Xcode quit working
Thank you for your post. As you mentioned, you have attempted various solutions, including using the latest version of Xcode and macOS. Could you please provide the version of Xcode and macOS you are currently using? Have you tried using a different project? Are you able to open another project successfully, or can you create a new project without any issues? If the issue is limited to a single project, it may be a problem with that specific project.
In the event of an Xcode crash, Xcode creates a crash file, please submit the information to us. Additionally, if you have a FB number, please provide it for our records.
There are a few more items to try to see if we can fix the crash:
- Reset Xcode User Preferences: Sometimes, corrupted preferences can cause issues. To reset them:
- Close Xcode completely.
- Go to the Finder.
- Press Shift + Command + G to open the Go to Folder dialog.
- Paste ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/UserData/ and press Enter.
- Delete the Preferences folder (but not the entire UserData folder).
- Restart Xcode.
- Create a New User Account: Try creating a new user account on your Mac. If Xcode works correctly on the new account, it suggests that the issue might be specific to your user profile, and you can consider backing up and resetting your user preferences.
- Disable Third-Party Plugins: Xcode plugins can sometimes cause conflicts.
Otherwise, it would be beneficial to get the project that is causing Xcode to crash to us as well as obtain the FB number.
