Unfair Rejection – Minglr App Constantly Denied Without Clear Justification (Escalation Request)

Hello Apple Developer Community,

We are reaching out in frustration after facing multiple rejections for our app, Minglr, under Guideline 4.3(a) – Spam, despite the fact that:

•	Our app was approved in May 2024 and has passed four updates without any issue related to design or concept similarity.

•	The current rejection contradicts Apple’s own approval history, despite no fundamental changes to our UI/UX.

•	We have built Minglr’s design from scratch in Figma (with a full design history to prove it) and yet are not being given the opportunity to provide evidence.

•	We have requested Apple to clarify which app they are comparing us to, but they refuse to provide details, making it impossible to properly address their concerns.

Why This Feels Unfair & Inconsistent • Apple continues to approve apps with identical UI and UX (such as dating apps), yet a completely different social app like Minglr is being flagged without justification.

•	If a similar app exists, Apple should confirm whether it was submitted before or after Minglr. If after, we are the ones being copied, yet we are the ones being rejected.

•	The rejection feels arbitrary, especially considering Apple previously approved our app and design multiple times.

What We Need Help With • Has anyone else faced a similar situation where Apple reversed previous approvals without explanation?

•	Are there escalation paths within Apple beyond standard App Review that have worked for other developers?

•	How can we push Apple to review our actual design history in Figma instead of issuing generic rejections?

We have submitted an official escalation request and contacted Apple Developer Support, but so far, we are only receiving template responses that do not address our concerns.

Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. We are determined to resolve this fairly and ensure Apple follows a consistent review process.

Thank you for your support!

Călin Spiridon CEO, Minglr

I have a very similar issue with my app Sonic | Tone Generator. Apple App Store Review team has been holding my updates hostage since November (3 months ago). They claim my app is fraudulent even though its water eject feature has been loved by millions of people around the world for years. All my copy cat apps are updating and making progress now while I wait. I have logged an appeal but have no communication on that process. Is there any legal action that can be taken?

I completely understand your frustration—our app, Minglr, has also been facing unjustified rejections despite being previously approved multiple times. It’s incredibly discouraging to see copycat apps moving forward while original apps like ours are being blocked.

Here’s what we’ve tried so far: ✔ Filed a formal appeal – We made sure to clearly present our case and request escalation to a senior reviewer.

✔ Contacted Apple Developer Support directly – You can try calling them at Apple Developer Support and asking for an escalation to a higher-level reviewer.

✔ Used Twitter/X (@AppleSupport) – Sometimes, posting publicly can attract more attention.

✔ Requested a call with the App Review Team – They finally agreed to discuss our case over the phone. Maybe you could push for the same?

Regarding Legal Action:

Apple’s review process is notoriously opaque, and legal action is rarely successful unless it involves major financial damages or antitrust concerns. However, some developers have managed to escalate their cases by:

Contacting Apple Developer Relations (if you have a rep assigned). Getting media attention – Some devs post their struggles on platforms like Reddit, Twitter/X, or even tech blogs. Exploring EU/US App Store regulations – The EU’s Digital Markets Act is pushing for more transparency, so Apple may soon be forced to handle these cases better. If you’re considering legal steps, you might want to consult a lawyer specializing in tech & app store disputes, but I’d recommend exhausting all communication channels with Apple first.

Let’s keep each other updated—hopefully, we can both find a way forward! 🚀

Best of luck

Thank you for your post and appeal. We're investigating this currently. A representative from App Review will contact you to provide further assistance. If you continue to experience issues during review, please contact us.
