iCloud Music Not Saving Offline

I used to sync all music from my Mac to my iPhone locally, but decided to turn on the iCloud Music Library switch today after getting Apple Music and realising that the switch has to be on for Apple Music songs to get synced across to the phone.

When I play a song on my phone that's stored locally, it decides to delete it and then stream it. If I try to make it available offline, the song downloads and then I assume it's saved locally again. When I try to play it again, it does the same thing - deletes it and streams it instead.

I hope this is just a temporary bug... anyone else having this problem?

I was struggling with the same problem. Now I can't even stream my music. I receive the error "The operation couldn't be completed. (MPAVControllerErrorDomain error 6.)" I understand this is a beta, but this level of dysfunction is unsettling. As a precaution I've backed up my entire iTunes library.

Same here. But I was surprised to see Apple Music working with the current beta 2 at all - We're still waiting for the next beta release to support Apple Music as announced. So after updating El Capitan with the newest iTunes version and enabling Apple Music this way is a sure hassardous thing to do. I crosed my fingers and it worked out so far as I'm able to get access to the Apple Music playlists/library on my iOS9-iPhone. But I have to stream 'till they release the "official supported beta" next week :-) Hopefully they'll fix it (iOS 8.4 seems not to be much more bugfree than the beta iOS 9...)

Apple music isn't available on ios 9 Beta 2 right now right?

Not directly - but when activated thorugh another device (f.e. a Mac running the latest iTunes-version) it somewhat works on the current beta on iOS 9. But offline Downloads are not working here... so I'm not able to get my music on the iPhone to access it on the road... Just streaming for now. Bad luck for my data plan. I'm crossing my fingers for the next beta! 🙂

Downloading a smart playlist still doesn't work with beta 5 on my iPhone 6 :

The smart playlist contains about 1700 tracks (it didn't work either with about half as many tracks in the earlier betas).

The smart playlist has one condition : "Date added is in the last 12 months".

When I try to sync the playlist offline to the iPhone, the downloads begin most of the time, and get stuck most of the time after a few 10's of downloads. Even when I manage to get a few tracks to get sync'd, they get randomly dropped after some time and I find myself with a playlist totally unsynced after a few days.

It's been like that since Apple Music as been introduced to iOS9 betas for me so it's a stream only service for me so far. Anybody found a workaround?

The following steps have fixed this issue for some people:

  1. Backup the phone to iTunes and then backup My iTunes Library (as a precaution)
  2. Turn off iCloud music library on all your iOS devices.
  3. Hard reset your iPhone (don't turn on iCloud music library at this point)
  4. In iTunes, turn off iCloud music library (In the preferences menu un-tick the option and ok it)
  5. In the account menu select "View account" and enter your password if prompted.
  6. At the bottom of the page is the option to reset your iCloud music library, select it and be aware of the warning (hence backing up first) - tick the box and ok it.
  7. Hold cmd+option while re-opening iTunes to launch it in safe mode. Select "Reset library", and wait for it to complete.
  8. When step 8 completes, close and re-open iTunes and make sure iCloud library is turned on in preferences.
  9. Now turn on iCloud music library on your iOS device and open the music app. Give it time to re-sync your library.
  10. Now select and download what you want and it should all work as normal.
