Is ios executable encrypted with ad hoc distribution? (no appstore)

I found out that app executable is encrypted by apple when released on the app store.

Is it same for ad hoc distrubution?

The binary encryption is part of the App Store release process. It does not apply to ad-hoc testing apps as it would get in the way of debugging.
