has anyone been able to save files on iPad on the new Files App?

I tried saving a file in icloud drive and it failed. Works on 10 in my app. Lots of things are going wrong. This beta is really on the wild side.

On the same note, has anyone managed to save a file to their "local" storage in the files app? It won' even let me move any files into the "local" storage. I allso tried finding the folder containing the "local" storage on iExplorer. Anyone had success using the save to this iPhone/iPad feature?

I can't seem to see any local or icloud files in the Files explorer. Even if I create new files nothing appears.

AFAIK, the "Files" App can only show the local files from the "Documents" folder of other Apps if these have set the new key "UISupportsDocumentBrowser" in their Info.plist file. This does work fine on my own Apps where I tested this. So I guess you are not supposed to copy files into the "Files" App itself. The Files App does not have a local file storage itself. The "Files" App is only listing the local files from other Apps. But because right now no App from the AppStore does have this new key in its Info.plist, the list is simply empty.
