Battery Drain - MediaAnalysisD

Hello everyone, I installed iOS 11 beta on my iphone 7 plus.

I like it so far however I'm still having battery drain issues. I connected it to my macbook to see if instruments Activity Monitor would show me what's going on.

I noticed that when my phone is in sleep, process called "MediaAnalysisD" is contantly using 60-70% CPU. Has anyone encountered this problem and how can I fix it? I know that the battery could be a lot better.

Thanks!

That is most likely the new OS re-indexing/analyzing your media files. My phone was a little warm during the first hour or two while this was happening. Afterwards everything is working great.

It's been over a day and it's still doing the same thing. It did this for the past year for previous versions as well.

I’m having severe battery drain on 7-plus with iOS 11 after a day. So far not the same problem on my iPad Pro with iOS 11.

Mine iPhone 7 running 15A5304 just started doing the same thing. Up until yesterday I was having a great time with the betas. Yesterday my battery just went through the floor and my iPhone runs warm all the time. I don't believe I have changed any of my habits or usage. I have powered cycled the phone twice and still have the problem. I'm downloading the beta again and will install it using iTunes to make sure I have a fresh copy. Any ideas?

Can you check the activity monitor on the mac when iphone is connected to see whats using the cpu?

I think I figured out my issue. A coupld of days ago I downloaded the lastest macOS beta which had the iMessages Sync enabled. I turned it on both on the Mac and my iPhone. Once I turned it off on both devices, my battery drain and heating of my iPhone stopped. I'm still playing with it now to see what exactly setoff the drain and will post when I find out.

>to see what exactly setoff the drain

Early betas typically lack production level power management, so don't be too concerned and/or spend too much time on it at this point.

I had the same issue. The battery showed chrome was comsuming 30% in 24 hours. I disabled backround refresh but that didnt help. I have disabled all apps backround refresh and that has helped the drain. I plan on enabling a couple apps at a time to see which one is killing the battery.
