User Account disappeared

Hello,

on my iMac running 10.13, the iMac was in "sleepmode", I tried to login at the login screen... did not work.. did then click on "switch user" at the login screen, then, the original User (which I was previously logged in prior to putting the mac into sleep mode), disappeared! How come?? I logged in using a second admin account, and the the admin account was gone!

How can I restore the first admin account? Create a new one, pointing to the same directory? and Use the same account name?

I did that, but, not all came back as before.. also lost all iMessages...

please help.

Interesting - was there anything about that account that was different. Was it encrypted with file vault?

No, nothing special at all... The iMac was as I said in sleep mode over night.. wanted to login again in the morning.. did not accept my password, so that tried with click on "login as another user"... then the first account disappeared... weird... also, when I logged in with the 2nd admin account, I could no longer see the first admin account under "users" in settings... gone, simply gone.

I then recreated the 1st admin account pointing to the same directory and same user name.. but, since then the system behaves weird... not all is the same... iCloud issues.. mail issues... Spotlight issues.. cannot find things I know is there... and so on...

The exact same thing has happened to me.. admin account deleted while in sleep mode.. what is the solution here, im freaking out
