Battery dropping really fast on Watch OS4

I've been running Watch OS4 for a week and I observed that some days the battery lasted longer and other days it dropped really fast. I didn't use the watch so much and i am wondering if anyone has battery problems? On watch OS.3 the battery usually lasted 2 days but now it lasts like maximum 18 hours. I know that this problem is mainly due to the Beta but i wonder if anyone has found a solution to this problem.

Watch OS4 is very nice and crisp and I like it very much especially the fitness app and music app. Apple took some time to develop these applications and they are not final but they are really nice. Other stuff that I like is the redesigned lock screen and the animations that seem more realistic compared to Watch OS 3.

The Phone application has more functionalty compared to Watch OS 3 and the importing of music is now faster.

My conclusion is that Watch OS4 is very innovative and futuristic.

After looking through Settings and turning off almost everything (background refresh, detect gym machine, Apple Watch faces, etc), my battery was still draining fast. I un-paired my watch and paired it back up using a backup...battery still drained fast. I would wear my 1st gen watch from a full charge at 7am and it would be at 20% by 11am. Before watchOS 4 Beta 2, I could’ve probably worn my watch from 7am until the next day 7am and not even be at 20%. Not sure what changed from last night, but today my watch lasted me all day. I didn’t have to charge it at all. I still have a couple things off (detect gym machine and background refresh). I have a weather complication on my watch face and the location arrow from the Control Center is still there. Only weird thing is that my battery life on the watch doesn’t match what it says on the battery widget on the phone. My watch earlier said it was at 92%, but the battery widget on my phone say 86%. That might just be a bug, but I am surely happy that my watch battery life is lasting all day. I’ll post again if it was just a one day luck thing.

Having the same issue. What’s puzzling me is it occurs since I updated the OS to Beta 2 from Beta 1..

Whats funny is I am getting better battery life. I turned off background refresh (that killed it fast). watch series 0, iphone 7 plus

here is a fix that worked for me. open ”watch” app > workout > detect gym equipment. Detect gym equipment is turned on by default and it drains the battery and also go to General>Reset>Reset sync data. this to help me little bit. It’s still not as good as watchos 3 But now i can make it almost full day. Btw i have series 0 38mm. Let me if this works for you.

I am getting better battery as well after i turned off the location on the Siri watch face 😀

Still no change on my Series 0 Sport 42mm. It's especially bad when driving. Still think some location service is killing off the watch. I've run through everything people have said, but no luck. Hopefully it improves in Beta3

On your iPhone: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Apple Watch Faces ... Never This solved my watchOS 4 battery woes.

Didn't try that but beta 4 is brilliant so far! Been running for 7 hours (including 30 min walk with GPS) and still on 95%. I don't think even WatchOS3 managed that.

On B4 I went all day (6:30a to 5p) still had like 60% charge. then i remembered I turned off the heart rate monitor. I turned it back on and by 7p i was down to 20%

Turned it back off this morning when I put the watch on (again around 6:30a) and i've still got 93% (9:41a).

I had the same problem. When I experimented with the new Siri face, battery drained fast. When I went back to the utility face, I got 1+ days of battery.

I am experiencing the same problem. Right after the upgrade, I noticed the watch was in the charger (100%) and I took it off for 5 mins and the percentage dropped to 80% and I was like "WT...." without doing anything that checking the time.

I have the same problem since upgrading to watchOS 4, battery used to last 1.5-2d, now from 10am -> 6pm or so. This is insane.

I thought it was the Siri watch face, switching to the old faces didn't fix the issue completely. The battery it still draining fast.

Did you unpair and repair? I have done that and it works. Full charge at 7am - by 11pm still at 60% (apple watch series 2 and 3)

I’ve got the same issue. Battery drain is unreal. Even installing 4.1 doesn’t seem to have changed much. Tried unpairing and repairing plus hard reset. I’ll keep an eye on it but so far doesn’t seem to have made any difference.

After turning on the watch bluetooth & pair with phone, “found the watch bluetooth keep on searching for health devices etc & battery start to drain out.” Even though, turn off watch bluetooth & charge back, problem remain. Guess is the bug in watch os 4( as genius bar told me my watch battery hardware in top optimum performance ) While waiting for the os upgrade, found practice below would be helpful (1)when watch bluetooth disconnected, power down the watch, it may stop the health devices searching activity, & charge it (2)But when the next bluetooth connect, the searching & battery draining will start again, then repeat (1)
