watchOS 26.0.2 / iOS 26.0.1 + Workout Session Mirroring Failure

Hi,

I have a workout app in the App Store which mirrors workout data between the phone and watch. Since iOS 26.x I've been having issues and received reports of the mirroring no longer working. Users in iOS 18 have no problems with this functionality.

Bug description: A workout session is started from the phone app and starts mirroring to the watch companion device. The watch starts the workout session and then the mirroring session is disconnected / lost. Sending data to the companion device fails and ending the session on the phone doesn't end the session on the watch...essentially they become completely disconnected.

Please note I am testing this on physical devices...not simulators.

As a sanity check I've also tried the "Building a multidevice workout app" sample code and it has the same problem.

To re-create on the sample app, I start a workout from the phone, the watch workout starts and then the mirroring session seems to disconnect and is unable to send data.

This is the log from the "Building a multidevice workout app" sample code.

Would appreciate any help with this problem as it's affecting customers.

Thank you

I will add that the following error is logged on the phone shortly after starting the workout:

Error Domain=com.apple.healthkit Code=554 "Primary session is unreachable." UserInfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Primary session is unreachable.}

Thanks for reporting the issue. Do you have a feedback report yet? If not, would you mind to file a feedback report and share your report ID here? Be sure to mention that the issue only happens on iOS 26.x. Thanks!

I have submitted a feedback report 20723311

As this was my first time, maybe my (in)experience can be helpful. The how to use the Feedback Assistant app on a public release documentation was very confusing, specifically:

"On publicly released versions of iOS and iPadOS, you can enable the app by installing a beta profile. "

Then there is nothing about where to get this beta profile from..? So having some prior experience setting up profiles I search in Profiles and Logs page, only thing close was the "AirPods Beta Software". Ok, so now I start Googling and ChatGPT-ing for how to install this beta profile with no real hits / help...all the information I can find is about using Feedback Assistant on Beta software which I don't want to install.

Eventually I give up and go back to the documentation and just try typing "applefeedback://" into Safari and as luck will have it, it just works...

The documentation reads to me as this Beta Profile being a requirement to use the Feedback Assistant, but that doesn't seem to be the case (?), and all I needed to do was launch it by entering the special url scheme.

Just my $0.02 on using this for the first time...hope it helps others or improve the documentation.
