BLE Peripherals streaming speeds are significantly slowed with new hardware (iPhone 17, iPad A16)

Hi, we have developed an application that streams data from two BLE peripherals at a rate of 14.5kbps per peripheral. Until now, our devices streamed in near real time with no lag on all Apple devices with Bluetooth 5.0 or greater. Since the release of the iPhone 17 series and the iPad A16, we have reports from users of the data being streamed at significantly lower rates than expected.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated as our customers are being affected by this change.

Do you have access to either of those devices to run some tests yourselves?

We would need some diagnostic logs to determine what might be the trigger on your accessory that triggers this issue.

If you can, please file a Bug Report on this

In your bug report we would need some diagnostics logs as well. Please go to https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/profiles-and-logs/ and follow the instructions for Bluetooth for iOS to install a logging profile on your device.

Then reproduce the issue, and follow the instructions at the above link to create a sysdiagnose.

And attach that to the bug report as well.

If you have separate sniffer logs that shows the interaction, also do include those.

We would also like to know the peripheral devices you are seeing this issue with. Make/Model and if you know, the BT chipset details (HW/FW versions and manufacturer) would be helpful to track this down.

Once done, please share the Feedback ID here, and @mention me in your response so we can take a look at this right away.

Hi @Engineer , the feedback issue was closed citing insufficient information to diagnose the issue. I am willing to provide more information on this. Can you let me know what additional information that you would need?

Thanks

Hi, we have an open feedback listing that we are still awaiting a response for FB21147185. Is there any update on this?

Hi @Engineer , I'm wondering if you know has there been any update on this? I have filed feedback with system diagnoses and BLE packet sniffing data at the following link: FB21147185

Thanks

@bocallaghan We are expecting this issue to have been resolved in the latest versions of iOS 26.

If you are still encountering this issue on iOS 26.3, please update your Feedback Report indicating the version you are running, and any other information, and if possible, new logs please.

If you are indeed encountering the problem with 26.3 still, we would appreciate if you can also gather diagnostic logs from the affected device and attach it to your feedback.

Please go to https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting/profiles-and-logs/ and follow the instructions for Bluetooth for iOS to install a logging profile on your device.

Then, once the logging profile is installed, reproduce the problem, keeping track of the actual time of the actions you take and the result you see.

Once the problem is reproduced, follow the instructions at the above link to trigger a sysdiagnose as soon as possible to allow for the most detailed log entries to be saved.

Please let me know when you have done so by @mentioning me, so I can alert the team right away.

Hi, just wanted to chime in here, since we are experiencing similar issues as the OP.

We have also developed an app that uses 2 BLE peripherals that stream data simultaneously at a high frequency.

From our logs we can see the in field performance of a wide variety of models from hundreds of iPads used by customers around the world and we noticed customers using the iPad A16 11th gen Wi-Fi only (iPad15,7) model have been experiencing Bluetooth related issues. The issues have been observed since it's release (March 2025) and across a variety of iPadOS versions (from 18.3 up to 26.3). We have not seen these issues with customers using the iPad A16 11th gen Wi-Fi + Cellular (iPad15,8) and other models.

We have since acquired this specific model (iPad A16 11th gen Wi-Fi only) for internal testing and we consistently see - even while using iPadOS 26.3.1 - around a 1 second delay in the data for 1 of the connected peripherals.

Hopefully a resolution can be provided in the near future, since it severely impacts our customers using this specific iPad model.

@JorisVD

We are working on understanding the problem and looking for a fix. We could use as many incidents with detailed logs as possible to help with finding a root cause.

If you can, please file a bug report with Bluetooth debug logs as well as described in the above message: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/806999?answerId=865783022#865783022

Please @mention me with the Feedback ID once done.
