Provisioning Profile Missing Family Controls (Distribution) Entitlement Despite Approved App IDs

Hello,

I’m running into an issue with the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement not being included in my App Store Connect provisioning profiles.

Here’s the situation: •Both my main app and its Screen Time extension have been approved for Family Controls (Distribution)

In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles → Identifiers, I can clearly see that the capability Family Controls (Distribution) is enabled for both App IDs.

However, when I generate a new provisioning profile (either manually or via Xcode), the resulting .mobileprovision file’s <key>Entitlements</key> section does not include the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement.

As a result, building for distribution or archiving fails to recognize that entitlement, even though everything looks correct in the Developer Portal.

But the missing entitlement persists.

How can I successfully generate a distribution provisioning profile that includes Family Controls (Distribution)?

Thanks in advance for any guidance — this seems like a subtle configuration issue, and I’d love to hear how to get over it.

I can provide the Team ID and bundle ID upon request.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

I’ve tried:

•Regenerating both App IDs and provisioning profiles •Revoking and re-creating distribution certificates •Cleaning derived data and re-downloading profiles from Xcode

Every time, creating a profile for App Store Connect will fail to include the capabilities the app has been approved for.

In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles → Identifiers, I can clearly see that the capability Family Controls (Distribution) is enabled for both App IDs.

When you say enabled, do you mean that the capability is checked for Family Controls (Development) and Family Controls (Distribution) in the Capabilities tab for the App ID of your app and Screen Time extension?

However, when I generate a new provisioning profile (either manually or via Xcode), the resulting .mobileprovision file’s <key>Entitlements</key> section does not include the Family Controls (Distribution) entitlement.

Please follow the steps in Check the Entitlements In Your Build Log and App to inspect the entitlements built into your app, then paste the outcome here.

•Regenerating both App IDs and provisioning profiles

Are you using Automatic signing or manual signing?

If you are using automatic signing, follow the steps in Configuring Xcode to request new provisioning profiles for automatic signing.

If you are using manual signing, follow the steps in Update your provisioning profile

Thanks for this information, I was able to regenerate the provisioning profile and the upload was authorized on App Store Connect for TestFlight.

I did have both capabilities (Family Controls Development and Distribution) checked for both my app IDs. I also tied with automatic and manual signing prior posting to the forums. I had exhausted all my options. Thanks for your answer and I'm glad to get past this roadblock... Have a great weekend.
