Premium sms allowed ?

Hi , i'm currently system an app that has a voting developing , we where thinking one way to monitise the voting would be with a premium sms number , ie: the customer sends an sms to a phone number that bills customer 60c and we take a profite from that. Of couse we would have that in clear writing letteing the customer know that.

I can seem to find a stright answer on the topic & sorry if this has been asked before but I was just wondring if that was allowed to do by Apple rules ?

Cheers Fib.

I mite just add that i have read the Apple rule book:

11.1 Apps that unlock or enable additional features or functionality with mechanisms other than the App Store will be rejected

11.2 Apps utilizing a system other than the In-App Purchase API (IAP) to purchase content, functionality, or services in an App will be rejected

Since the customer are using the sms for voting & not get any functionality or content in returne , i would think it's ok for me have this function.

Anyway that's what i meant by not getting a stright answer.

You're aware of the "There are no pre-previews" policy, right?

But how do you say with a straight face "We're developing a voting app, but we don't consider the voting part of the content of the app"? 😕 And saying "After people vote, we're not going to give them any feedback" makes your app worse. So you're talking about a voting app that doesn't keep track of what the person voted for and do things like show them how those votes turned out, and that's just bad.

You're also aware that you can't send automated SMS messages on iOS, right?

I should of made my first sentence more clear...

Hi , i'm currently creating an app that has a voting system as part of the process, It already has a subscription model built into it, we where thinking one way to monetise the voting would be with a premium sms number.

"And saying "After people vote, we're not going to give them any feedback" makes your app worse."

Makes it worse ? Do you know the app i'm creating do you ? I didn't relies oracles where a real thing 😕.. Please tell my future , i'm i going to find love ?

"You're also aware that you can't send automated SMS messages on iOS, right?"

Maybe if had taken the time to read the example that was given you would understand that point you're making is pointless.

In future please try sticking to the questions being asked rather then asuming, and also ask qustions instead of filling in the blanks with you're imagination, cos you have been no help at all.

A premium sms number is one that you buy from a Telco company which allows you to charge exstra money when pepole sms for what ever reason.

Ever watched America/Britain's got talent ?

You vote for your favorite contestant via a sms service that usually costs about 55c , you're billing Telco will charge your account ( the consumer ) then the telco will send part of that 55c to the business as income earned, in this exsample that would be America/Britain's got talent earn part of that 55c.

The reason i want to do it this way is because it keeps the people voting somewhat honest , normally you would not go spending $3 worth of sms to vote and as well we on our end can trake the voting very easy to null and void muilti votes on the platform the Telco provides.

The other way to do it is buying in app tokens, the tokens can then be sent from the customer to thing that they are voting on, the issue with this is a customer can send multiple tokens/vote. For a voting system that won't work having multi votes.

I guess i'll just have send the app in with an explanation & hope for the best

As far as I can tell, you're just illustrating the self-inflicted reason for why you're not getting an answer to your questions.

Good luck getting past criteria 4.2 when you're trying to include SMS voting like that in your app.

You're still hung about about my app being low content ey.. I will personally send you a link when the app goes crazy on the downloads.

P.s. i would've gone with clause 3.1.1 to help someone out on the original question

Premium sms allowed ?
