Conflict with Business ID and Personal account for Testflight

I’m hitting a persistent conflict between my Business (Managed) Apple ID and my personal Apple ID when trying to use TestFlight. My Business ID is correctly tied to App Store Connect, but the device always forces TestFlight to associate with my personal Apple ID.

When I try to “Review” the Business ID in the App Store, I get the endless loop: “This Apple ID has not been used in the iTunes Store.”
The review flow never completes.

What I’ve already confirmed:

  • Business/Managed Apple IDs cannot be activated for the App Store

-Signing out of Media & Purchases doesn’t fix it -Tried on multiple devices - sign out - same behaviour -TestFlight still forces a personal Apple ID login even when everything else is configured correctly

This looks like a reproducible conflict introduced by recent Apple updates, and it’s affecting Managed/Business Apple IDs across the board. Developer Support hasn’t provided a single actionable response despite multiple tickets which is unacceptable for a paid service.

Has anyone found a reliable workaround solution for this problem ? THANK YOU in advance !!

Thanks for the post a few days ago there was someone in the forums asking the same question, I need to find the link because my recommendation was to separate the accounts per device so there is no issues in the dropdown.

TestFlight, while a developer tool, relies on the underlying App Store infrastructure for distributing builds to testers. For a tester to download and install builds via TestFlight, their Apple ID must be capable of interacting with the App Store (even for free apps).

Your Business (Managed) Apple ID is correctly used for App Store Connect to manage your apps, upload builds, and invite testers.

The solution is to separate the roles by using different computers in my opinion. Is that possible to do so is easy to manage the drop down for the account?

  • Business Apple ID: Manages the app in App Store Connect.
  • Personal Apple ID: Used on the device to accept TestFlight invitations and download builds.

I hope this clarifies the situation and provides the reliable workaround you're looking for but the most important and interesting part of the issue if to find out how other developers handle this situation? Do they have multiple devices dedicated to a task or they manage in the same device? Very interested in knowing opinions and suggestions about this.

hey @DTS Engineer Albert, Hey Albert, I finally managed to try it on another device, and the solution is clearly documented (see the StackOverflow link). Basically, you need to sign out of Media & Purchases in order to use your Business Apple ID. Thanks anyway for the suggestions! https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28488108/specify-different-email-address-for-test-flight
