I recently enrolled my iPad Air 2 in Apple's public beta program. I proceeded to install the iOS 11 beta and everything was working great at first. The next day I went to charge my iPad and and was getting the notification that the accessory may not be supported by my device. Obviously I found this strange considering the charger was an apple product and not some off brand. I tried switching cables and that didn't work. The problem was not with the charger because I was able to use it just fine with my iPhone. I decided it would be best to restore my iPad however, the option to factory reset option was simply not working. I would select it and nothing would appear on the screen. I then plugged my iPad into my MacBook and the iPad would not recognize the computer properly. The way it was acting was as if I was pulling the cord in and out of the USB port repeatedly, which I was certainly not. I contacted Apple support and they ran a diagnostic test on the iPad and concluded that the issue was with the software. I was instructed to put the iPad in recovery mode. From there I was able to get it to recognize my MacBook, but I encountered more issues. I selected the restore option and after a few minutes of working I received the error message saying "An unexpected error occurred (9)." I decided to go to the Apple store in person to see if they could help me. I was then directed to this link, About iOS beta software - Apple Support, which explained how to download the iOS 10.3.3 and restore my iPad and downgrade my iOS. After downloading the proper file and following the instructions given on this page on how to restore my iPad I still encountered the same error message. So now my iPad is stuck in recovery mode because I cannot restore it due to an unknown error occuring every time. Is there anything else I can do or try, or is my iPad essentially unfixable at this point?
iOS 11 Beta Caused my iPad Air 2 to be stuck in recovery mode
Not an answer on the restore but I have the exact same problem you have. The 'solution' is to first attach the cable to the iPad and put the charger in the socket. Then plug the cable into the charger and it should work. I sure hope that Apple isn't becoming even more aggressive with 3rd party products exclusions.
