Walkie-Talkie app missing in watchOS 27 beta

While testing the watchOS 27 beta, I noticed that the standalone Walkie-Talkie app has been removed from the system.

Walkie-Talkie has always been a great, lightweight way to stay connected. Much like Digital Touch, it’s one of those quick, low-friction features that makes the watch feel uniquely personal for communication throughout the day. I am really hoping its absence is just a temporary beta omission rather than a permanent retirement of the feature.

I have already submitted a request via Feedback Assistant asking the engineering team to consider keeping it in the final release. If you also rely on this app for quick wrist-to-wrist updates, I highly recommend submitting your own feedback ticket to let the team know there is still an active user base for it. (FB23040695)

Has anyone else ran into this or found an official note from Apple regarding its removal in the release notes?

Hopefully, we will see it return before the public release this fall. Over and out!

I second this, as well as linking this page:

Seems to be a well loved feature by me and many others, please Apple, keep this around! What a beautiful and useful feature I always think "just works"

I use it a lot since my friends got AW. Won’t update if they don’t bring it back for the public release.

I too use it a lot. makes for a good quick talk without making the other person actively press anything to hear me.

I’ve had to turn off automatic updates after discovering the Walkie‑Talkie app removal in ios27. My family and I rely on this app every day - myself, my three children, and their grandmother who lives far away. It’s the reason we chose Apple Watches for all of them last Christmas instead of Android or other smartwatches.

The Walkie‑Talkie feature is incredibly useful for quick communication — it saves time compared to texting or calling and has become part of our daily routine. Losing it makes those watches feel like a wasted investment, and it’s disappointing to see such a practical feature disappear.

Please consider bringing the Walkie‑Talkie app back. It’s one of the best and most convenient tools Apple has ever offered for families like ours.

I don’t want to lose walkie-talkie. Walkie-talkie will work if I update the iPhone iOS 27 but leave my watch at watchOS 26?

Really useful on a daily basis. Really hope for it to be added on the public release.

My family also relies on the walkie talkie feature. This feature alone was a selling point for my family and I. No other watches or devices offer the same function. If your looking to get rid of apps and features I can think of 10 others like the handwashing app for example. I really hoped you all would have made it better in this update. Really sad to see it go and with it gone, we will most likely look at moving from Apple in the next update.
