Issues with Sequoia 15.7.8, Gmail and Apple Mail

Yes @nottooloud you are the man! That safari update definitely brought the "Enable this account" checkbox alive. I can see all my mailboxes. So thank you! July 29 update: The authentication issue was resolved by the Safari update, but Apple Mail is repeatedly generating large numbered local Import mailboxes and consuming disk space.

With Mail closed, ~/Library/Mail is currently 78 GB and the Mac has only 25 GiB available. After deleting previously generated Import mailboxes from within Mail, new Import-20.mbox and Import-21.mbox folders appeared. Import-21.mbox alone is 11 GB, Import-20.mbox is 4 GB, and the remaining Import*.mbox folders total approximately 32 GB.

The behavior occurs in the On My Mac container AA999DF6-9CDD-4021-8349-D00C076634D4. I have disabled Mail for all Internet Accounts and am keeping Mail closed to prevent further growth. Please advise what diagnostics the Mail engineering team needs before I alter the Mail database further.

@DC2026 @nottooloud - Are you able to send outbound Emails successfully after this. My inbound is all good. I can provide details if you are facing the same. Wanted to check to see if this was limited to me, in which case I will try and debug further on my own. Thank you. Raj

@rajlali I have not been able to test outbound mail reliably yet. After the Safari update, authentication appeared to be resolved and inbound mail began syncing, but Apple Mail then started creating large numbered Import mailboxes and rapidly consuming disk space. I have since disabled Mail for all Internet Accounts and am keeping the app closed.

So I cannot confirm whether outbound mail is working. Please share the details of what you are seeing, since it may help determine whether this is related to the same issue or a separate one.

I had to reselect my outgoing server for gmail, but I am able to send from my domain to my gmail and back.

@DC2026 Thanks. I dont see the growth that you see in my case. The size of ~/Library/Mail/V10 has been stable.

On my outbound mail issue, had it for 2 days, but appears working fine today! So in general I think I am back to the same state I was prior to July 14th. So a couple of weeks of serious hassle. Best to you on figuring out your size growth issue. I will also keep a watch.

@rajlali Thanks, Raj. Helpful to know your outbound mail recovered and your V10 folder remained stable. That suggests my storage growth may be a separate issue involving the local On My Mac Import mailboxes rather than the original authentication problem. I am keeping Mail disabled until Apple advises on the next diagnostic step. I will post an update if I learn anything useful. Appreciate you keeping watch.
