iCloud Photo Library not syncing between iOS 11 devices

Hello everyone,

I’m contacting you about a strange issue relative to my iCloud Photo Library. I have an iPhone and an iPad Pro, both on iOS 11. All the photos taken on both devices are synced with my Mac and iCloud.com but not between my iOS 11 devices.

- iPad photos appear on iPad, Mac and web

- iPhone photos appear on iPhone, Mac and web

I‘ve tried everything (disabling, logging out...) but it never works. My iPad photos never appear on my iPhone and vice versa.

Does anyone else have this issue or is this related to my iCloud account? I don’t understand what is happening.

Same Issue

I also had this issue, I didnt fix it or get it fixed

When all the pictures I took in chicago last week were no longer on my mac I tried to reload them to the photo library got an error about them not being in the correct format and now they are all gone everywhere. However I have no issues now; everything is in sync and updates as expected I just lost a lot of slides from the AWS summit 😟.

I've been having an issue with my Photos up and disapearing in iOS, but remaining in Photos on macOS and in iCloud.com. On my Mac and online I'm still seeing all of my Photos (12,000+) but on iOS I'm seeing less than 600 photos. Screenshots and Pictures I'm taking on my iPhone aren't syncing across. I'm wondering if this is somehow related to Apple removing iMessage Cloud Syncing?

Also, when I look on iCloud.com, under "All Photos" on the Sidebar, it's showing as being correct: 12,699 Photos. When I go to "Photos" on the Side Bar, it's only showing there being 12,467 Photos...

try to enable "Upload to My Photo Stream" might resolve this issue temporary until next beta\official release fixes the problem

I am glad I am not the only one, but this is so typical Apple. There were no problems during beta testing.

My situation:

iCloud.com and macOS High Sierra are perfectly in sync: 32.278 items.

iPhone has 32.280 items, that is 2 more, no idea which.

iPad has 32.361 items, says is still downloading 3.548 items for 2 days now. But also contains items I deleted on my mac. So sync seems really stuck or broken. I did a restore but that doesn't help.

Also I enabled full versions on iPad. While my library is 200 GB, on my iPad my library is taking 71GB. And there is a weird 1% thing in the "save space, iCloud photo library" recommandation in the settings. What is that. And is my iPad Pro downloading heic versions from iCloud.com to save space... what's going on?!

Same problem here. The iCloud Photos Library sync isn't working correctly.

iPad (2017) iOS 11

MacBook Pro (2017) MacOS Sierra

Albums and photos originated on iPhone are not sycing via iCloud Photos Library to iPad and MacBook. However photos and albums originated on iPad do sync back to the iPhone.

Let's hope a future iOS 11 update fixes the problem

Hey Jeffry,

Did you end up getting this fixed? This is the first post I've seen that describes the same problems I'm having right now!

Please tell me you worked it out haha.

Same issue here with iOS 11.x.x, macOS is current. iTunes current. It has been going on since iOS 11.0.0.

There are discussions about it in the non-developer side also.

Just happened to me with 11.1.2. Suddenly I had only 365 pictures and it was uploading them all again. Makes me not trust iCloud to store my media any longer. That is scary.

The one thing that I did do is change the name of my phone from iPhone to Scott's iPhone X. maybe that triggered something. Hope that helps someone to debug it.

I was having the same problem. Upgraded to iOS 11.2 today and Photo Stream started working as expected.

My iPad (2017) 128Gb has version 11.2.1. I have the latest iTunes on my laptop and just over 5000 pics. It gives up the sync at about 1900 ish. You would figure by now with all the complaints over tons of forums a specific, official patch would have been released. For the money I spent on the higher storage space, I expect the system to work. Very frustrating.

SOLVED

Problem:
1) iPhone 11 Pro Max iOS 14.3, 256GB - 84 GB capacity
2) 1,400 iCloud photos vs 1,377 iPhone photos
3) iCloud photos turned on correctly across all devices
4) receiving error that "iCloud photos could not sync because of lack of storage capacity)
5) increased from 50GB (even though I had 12GB available on iCloud & 84GB available on iPhone)
6) after upgrading, MacBook started syncing - iPhone continued not syncing

RESOLUTION:
1) Tried everything, eventually toggled iCloud photos on/off on the iPhone and everything started syncing well again.
