Cannot Check for Apple Watch Update

So I just upgraded my iPhone 7 to iOS 11 Developer Beta 5 (15A5341f) from beta 4, and I have my Apple Watch running WatchOS 4 Beta 4 (15R5331g). I want to update it to the most recent beta that came out yesterday, but when I go to the Watch app and check for updates, I get the following message.

Could Not Connect to Apple Watch

Make sure your Apple Watch is nearby, powered on, and not in Airplane Mode.

Then, after clicking dismiss, the Watch restarts for some reason.

Is anyone else having this issue? I have already filed a bug report and submitted my iPhone's diagnostics, but I can't imagine that will help since you can't attach Watch diagnostics.

Accepted Answer

Had the same issue. Multiple restarts of both devices resolved the issue.

I tried this shortly after posting this issue, and after restarting the phone about 10 times and the watch about 3 times it allowed me to check for and install the most recent update.

Solved also here, after a force restart.

You should force restart your device as a last resort and only if it's not responding. To force restart your Apple Watch, press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo
