Guideline 5.1.2(i): Does venue-level presence require manual check-in for every visit?

Hello, I’m developing an app where users can optionally share presence at predefined public venues.

The app does not expose precise GPS coordinates or continuous movement to other users; matched users can only see that someone is currently present at a specific predefined venue. Venues are presented on a map view.

Users have global and per-venue controls to disable presence sharing. App Review cited Guideline 5.1.2(i) and instructed us to “require users to manually check in each time they wish to have their location displayed on a map” and to provide no automatic check-in option.

Has anyone encountered this requirement for venue-level presence rather than precise live location? In particular, would explicit opt-in to presence sharing plus per-venue controls ever satisfy this requirement, or should we assume a distinct manual action is required for every visit?
