Previously, hidden photos have been hidden only from collection. If i hide photo and add it to special alboom i can sow it by look in this special album. I have two different type of photo, whitch i whant to hide from colection but i like look on it separately. Now, in new iOS 11 this not working. If photo is hidden i can saw it only in hidden folder. It is unusable. And also photo count ih folders count this hiden photos. So i have two empty folders with non zero count of includet photos.
Hidden photos will not show in albums.
+1 This is a complete pain and makes the whole hidden photos feature pretty useless. I really hope Apple reverts this change or at least gives the reasoning for it.

It's impossible to find a photo among the almost 20.000 in my iCloud library without beeing able to see it inside an album. All photos that need to be sorted are seen, while the others, are hidden inside albums! Why would you make photos dissapear from an album Apple?? If i've added then there, it's because I want to see then there!
Now I have literally 272 empty albums! Thanks Apple! S2

Apple needs to fix this, the whole point of hidden photos is to hide the ones that you need but don't want to cramp with the Photos (Moments) tab and have it organized and easy to access in separate albums
I can't believe they went on with this in the final release. The hide feature is, by this point, totally useless for me, and screwed up badly the albums I use daily for work reasons (I'm a pathologist, can't have dissected human organs on my main library, can I?).
This is the most useless feature of ios11.I am unsure what use it would ever have to anyone to have all hidden photos in one place?
All my albums are empty and entirely useless now.
Apple, if you ever read these things, please at least add a toggle for this feature in settings so we can disable it.
I have been a user of apple for many years now and im investive hevely in the apple envoroment with my mac pro, macbooks ipad and iphone.
Ive noticed over the last few years Apple seems to not care about their pro users any more - we have not seen a mac pro since 2013 😟
One thing I love about apple, and has kept me with them for so long, is the facilities to be able to tag documents and general organize my files and photos. This has kept me from moving to apples other rivels as over the last several years I have orginized my 10 of thousands of photos into albums.
I have albums for miscellaneous, work photos, personal photos and eveny month I will work on sorting my photos to the relevent albums and hide them so they don't show in my camera roll. I know each month that I can sort the photos in my camera roll back to 0.
Im now realy annoyed to find in ios11 all my photos albums are empty and my photos are back in my camera roll. This is so annaying because there nothing i can do to change this...
Realy hope apple explain why they have done this and add a fix. On the other hand, now my photos are all messed up apple has given me an excuse to try the new samsung or google phones.
This might seem odd, but the analogy of the camera roll is the same as your film stock - it is everything.
Once you sort into albums, if you keep recent photos organized by moving them into albums, why would you ever go back to the camera roll? Seems to me that all of you are complaining because you want to use the camera roll as your main album - not really a good approach, especially with 20,000 photos.
And hidden - I like the new approach because it truly obscures photos. That is what I would take the word hidden to mean.
Now I can agree with the idea that once you place a photo into an album, shouldn't it be removed from the camera roll since it is in the library. That's not hiding a photo, it is moving one.
So thank you Apple for purifying the hidden feature to do exactly what it should, and please modify the behavior of the camera roll to allow images moved to albums to only appear in the album and no longer on the roll - unhidden.
I have suddenly the same problem in Mac OS Sierra 10.13.1 - hidden photos don`t appear in albums. My iPhone iOS 10.3.3 and iCloud still works well with the original functionality. I hope that this is only a bug and not an intention. Hope that Apple will correct this asap? Otherwise, the whole system of photos will get unusable. I hide hundreds of technical or other special photos, that would just bother me in the main photostream, but I need to find them in albums, where I place them!
You are not right. There is no longer the Camera Roll. There are Moments and All Photos views. It is expected, that in Moments user wants to see what it says - moments of the life, not screenshots, document photos, work photos and many others. To see this type of photos, there is an All Photos view in Albums.
Also it is wrong to totally change behaviour of current flag being used by millions people and screw their vital content. The right approach would be to introduce a new flag. This is either bug or really wrong decision. In both cases Apple should get our strong feedback.
Yes, this is unfortunate bug or wrong decision of Apple affecting millions users.
If you need to see the proper content, it still works as expected in web interface. Just go to www.icloud.com by using your browser on a Mac or PC, go to Photos and you can see Albums with ALL your photos.
Semantics, the All Photos is the camera roll. Really, the current behavior is much more preferable, makes more sense to me excpet as noted about moving photos into albums.
Since it is a fundemental change to perception, and since you really did not have a hidden feature before, I'd say they went part way to a complete model, the other side of it for your perspective. Fix both sides and it'll be fine. I want the hidden to remain truly hidden.
as I searched alot and found solution for this problem that your hidden album isn’t found in photos app
simply go to
settings > photos > enable hidden album
(it worked for me ✅)
Apple, +1 on this thread. Please recognise.
Went to Android a couple of years ago and iOS making backwards changes like this was one of the big reasons why. I’ve now come back and I’m shocked to see this awful change is still in effect. As someone else said above, if I’ve put a photo in an album, it’s because I want to see it in that album, simple.
Currently all hidden photos are moved to a different album and all bundled together and unsorted. Let us hide whole albums, not just the photos inside, and then find those albums in a hidden folder of hidden albums. I used my iPhone 6 for nearly 5 years and if I remember correctly, that’s how it worked before this very strange and backwards update.
Very much hope this still gets fixed and I’m truly shocked it’s still an issue after 2-3 years.
