I updated to el capitan last night and have been trying every possible method to connect to the wifi. I have tried to reset network settings, tried to restart the router and my internet. I have not been able to connect to safari or chrome for more than 1-3 minutes after startup. I have a MacBook pro 2011 17" and an apple time capsule so it shouldn't be a compatibility issue. Also, I don't know if there is already a solution, so any help would be appreciated. It says I have Internet connection but can't actually log on to chrome or safari. Thanks
Can't connect to wifi in el capitan
Hi,
I'm having same problem. I also don't have connectivity through my dual wired connections. I'm running El Capitan on an early 2009 MacPro (4,1).
I have multiple internet devices on my multiple internet connections and none are experiencing trouble. I also installed iOS 9 on my iPhone 6 plua and I'm not having any wireless connectivity problems on this.
I'm running Norton antivirus for Mac, latest version.
I disabled firewall blocking of applications and connection blocking.
That fixed my problem.
Whatever firewall and antivirus protection you have on your machine, try disabling the firewall connection and application blocking.
You were in the same exact situation I was lol. This fixed my problem. I ended up erasing Norton all together first haha. I will probably reinstall and just follow what you did. Thanks for the help!
I found that I could turn my firewall connection blocking and application blocking back on without interfering with my internet connectivity, once I had shut them off.
I now have them back on and am no longer experiencing connectivity problems.
I had this problem yestrerday but have no antivirus running. I cleared out all known wifi entries in networking and started again but no luck.
I managed to fix the problem by rebooting OSX with the option key held down (menu to select which disk to run from) and it brouht up a list of wifi connections, I selected my router, input the password and connected straightaway. Then slected my MBP hard drive and all been good since.
I disabled the Norton Firewall too! It WORKED!!!
Afraid that I'm having the same issues reported here. Using all Apple network hardware, latest models, all up to date. Other Macs & iOS devices fine.
Only my MBAir with the Beta is experiencing the repeated wi-fi drop. Usually toggling ON-OFF will resolve for a few minutes.
I tried all relevant "fixes" mentioned by others here; none resolved the issue.
None of the above worked for me, so I:
1. Opened Airport Utility
2. Clicked to edit my Time Capsule.
3. Selected Wireless.
4. Selected Wireless Options...
5. Chose a different 2.4 GHz channel (knowing that it wasn't necessarily the issue, but just changing it to hopefully "refresh" things)
6. Voila! Everything is working. Weird, stupid, makes no sense, but there you have it.
