Guideline 3.1.1

Our app has been rejected several times last month. The last accepted version was two months ago, which contains a gift system that user can buy coins with IAP, and use coins to buy some virtual gifts to other users.

Our last submission attempt was based on the accepted version + some minor changes about image compression rate, but still rejected.

I suspect there is something wrong with our coin system, but my co worker is not convinced, he says our coin system was already there in the accepted version, so it would not be the problem.

Here is the question:

Can user buy coins on other platforms (e.g. G*** Play), and use those coins in iOS? Does that violate 3.1.1 rules?

I beleive that violate 3.1.1 rule, but that is how our apps works and accepted by apple two months ago.

Please someone answer so I can convince my team to change business model.

You cannot allow a user to unlock features in your app using a method other than IAP. App Review misses things sometimes - perhaps that's why your earlier version was approved. You are welcome to self report your 3.1.1 violation and remove your earlier version from teh App Store.

aka

"Officier, I drove 95 MPH yesterday and no one stopped me. Why are you stopping me today for only going 90?"
