Big Network Latency

I've installed yesterday the public beta, and now on the mac pro mid 2014 my internet connection it's like a 56k with a big latencey if the page requested is not in the cache of the browser.

The download speed is decreased from 20mb to few kb.

With other divices, ios 9 included, the network it's ok.

Any suggestion?

This would be a big problem for me to download future patches because to donwload the 10mb patch I needed of 3 hours.

Are you connected via Ethernet or wifi?

wifi

Are you running Norton AntiVirus (or Avast!)?

If so, you'll need to disable firewall blocking of applications and connection blocking.

You may also have to force-quit mDNSresponder through Terminal or the Activity Monitor app.

Some people have reported that after wifi is working properly, you can then reactivate the anti virus software again. Others have reported the contrary.

If you don't have any anti virus software installed, then you may have a different issue which has been covered well in this thread:

https://forums.developer.apple.com/message/6456

nop, no antivirus, and i've already tried to force quit: mDNSresponder, still the problem.

The fact is that with facebook, youtube and skype i have no network problem, but with all other stuffs yes.

I tought was safari but even with mozilla I have the same problem. With utorent too.

Another thread suggests the following workaround for cases of wifi problems not caused by antivirus software. I don't have this issue myself but it's a harmless and risk-free one to test if you feel inclined:

  • Reboot with the option key held down (menu to select which disk to run from)
  • Choose from list of wifi connections
  • Input the password and connect before loading OS X.
  • Boot into El Capitan
