Is anybody using a HTC Vive successfully?

I am still looking for any person who succesfully uses an HTC Vive on the Mac using SteamVR, Unity or any other development environment. I do have all the necessary hardware, and I could go through a first setup, but that's all – I am stuck and cannot find a way to start doing even basic development.


So – does anybody use a HTC Vive with a Mac for anything?

I am using a HTC Vive to develop VR Desktop for Mac.

I just manged to get it working.


I am using a Mac Book Pro late 2016 13 inch model with an external GPU enclosure.


I turned everything off then on; and I deleted the Steam VR betas from within in Steam and downloaded it & installed it again. Then the Steam VR app worked. I also have the base stations working. I placed one on a window sill and the other on a bookshelf for now .


I am able to run some of the Unity VR demos from the Unity asset store. Note: using the Unity 2018.1 beta would not work so far. I am usng Unity 2017.3 (the latest patch version).

Hund, did you ever manage to get it working? I’ve been trying to set up with steam VR but been stuck for awhile?
Is anybody using a HTC Vive successfully?
