What does "Release this version" button actually do

I want to use the scheduled future release for first time ever. The UI is confusing. I have the app set to "Automatically release this version after App Review, no earlier than..." and the app data is all saved.

So will that just happen at the time chosen? Or do I have to confirm this with the "Release this version" button, which when you click it shows:

Are you sure you want to make this app available on the App Store?

which makes me nervous. That sounds like an immediate release to me.

Yep. The app went live at the chosen time. So if the app has already been approved then "Release this version" is an immediate not timed release, which is confusing.
