I have built my application for arm and x64 so I have two files called DeepSkyStacker.app in different directories. I have followed the instructions to notarise the arm version of the app, but an concerned about what I should do to notarise the other one - do I just zip that up and then run: xcrun notarytool submit "DeepSkyStacker.zip" --keychain-profile "Notary Profile for DeepSkyStacker" --wait xcrun stapler staple DeepSkyStacker.app again or will that mess everything up? Related to that can I use the Notary Profile I created for DeepSkyStacker to notarise other apps that are part of the same product (DeepSkyStackerLive and DeepSkyStackerCL)?? Thanks David

I use the 'notarytool' to notarize applications and .pkg installers for Developer ID distribution. When using the notary tool with a fresh Apple Developer account, the notarization process remains stuck in the 'In progress' state. However, if I try the same app with an older developer account (one that has notarized at least one app in the past), the notarization works. All agreements are accepted in developer portal and Appstore Connect.

I haven't been able to notarize my macOS app for the past two days. Now, I believe this is an issue with the notarization process because I've tried notarizing the default app that's provided whenever you open a new Swift application, but that completely failed as well. And I've been waiting for the past two days and it's been stuck on in progress. This is the second time this has happened to me in the past two months and oftentimes I have to wait more than a day or two for the notarization to occur. I just, I don't understand why it's deadlocked like this. I've done nothing. I haven't changed my certificates. I haven't done any different configurations within my Mac. The last time that this happened, the issue went away after two days, but my biggest concern right now is that if this happens whenever we need to urgently push updates, we can't. I have absolutely no idea what to do and I'm just extremely frustrated because this is happening right before our launch day. I've been stuck on notarizing again for the past two days and I've seen no progress, I've seen no responses from support emails and the ones that do aren't even applicable to my current scenario. ⁠

Dear Apple support, Since the last couple of days, we have some (very) long running notarization requests. Similar requests were done normally under 1 minute. This behavior is unexpected to us, and we did not see it before. The issue occurs for a small CLI tool submitted as a ZIP archive. Checking the documentation, I come across the section about "Avoid long notarization response times and size limits" (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/customizing-the-notarization-workflow#Avoid-long-notarization-response-times-and-size-limits). One fact is mentioned “Limit notarizations to 75 per day.” What is behavior if that limitation is reached? Is that limitation per Apple ID or per team ID? Hello, I had a successful attempt at notarization earlier today in my build pipeline. I've been using the same system for building my macOS application for over a year now. However, subsequent builds seemed to fail. I found a couple similar topics which makes this seem not not an isolated incident: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/782950 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/783347 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/783283 In my case I use the following command to submit the notarization: xcrun notarytool submit FilePath.dmg --apple-id "myappleid@gmail.com" --password "redacted_obviously" --team-id "my-team-id" --wait I left a previous run go for over an hour and the "Current status: In Progress.................. etc" filled the whole terminal. I manually checked the progress of the submissions using the command below: xcrun notarytool log --apple-id "myappleid@gmail.com" --password "redacted_obviously_again" --team-id "my-team-id" [run id] And they all result in the following output: Submission log is not yet available or submissionId does not exist Is anyone else experiencing this? Are there any possible solutions?

Hey all, I’m experiencing a consistent issue with notarizing a signed .pkg file that contains a macOS screen saver (.saver) bundle. Nothing online so far except 1 thread on the form from the altool time pre-2023 so i thought it worth another update. Here is what I did: I signed the .saver bundle using my Developer ID Application certificate. I packaged it into a .pkg using pkgbuild with my Developer ID Installer certificate: I submitted the resulting .pkg via xcrun notarytool: xcrun notarytool submit saver-name.pkg --apple-id email@email.com --password [app-specific-password] --team-id xxxxxxxxx The submission appears to be accepted and uploads successfully. However, the notarization status remains stuck at “In Progress” for hours (over 12h), with no update. I also tried: Repackaging the .pkg with a new name using a zip Resubmitting it under a new submission ID All attempts are stuck in the same “In Progress” state indefinitely. Did anyone solve this yet?

Hi all, I’m trying to notarize a Flutter macOS app built in CI (GitHub Actions). The app builds and signs fine locally—codesign --verify --deep --strict and spctl --assess both pass. Dear Apple Support, for better understanding to use the Notary Service, I would like to ask when and what have to be notarized. I am absolutely aware of using the Notary Service and which packages can be submitted and how to get the status. Scenario: We have one library which is developed by a specific team and other teams develop and deliver to customer MacOS apps which packages this library for the shipment. So, the library will be produced internally and will be shipped in different products. The library will be code signed before we make available internally. When should we notarize (and staple) this library? Directly after the code is signed or when it will be packaged in each product when it will be delivered to customer? Best regards, Stefan

Hi, overnight I'm getting "HTTP status code: 403. Invalid or inaccessible developer team ID for the provided Apple ID. Ensure the Team ID is correct and that you are a member of that team." in my pipeline running notarytool store-credentials. I'm getting --apple-id, --team-id and --password from CI variables. Double checked the values (even though they shouldn't change). Tried a new app specific password I did not change anything to cause this and my apple developer account is active. Really scratching my head what's going on here. Some assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Clearly I don't wish to expose the full invocation of xcrun notarytool store-credentials.

I have attempted all upgrades: updated xcode to 16.4 downloaded and installed Command Line Tools for Xcode 16.4 I have no issues with the installs, however when I run: > xcrun notarytool --version 1.0.0 (38) I need to be running v2.x How can I resolve this issue.

Hello, We are currently facing an issue with the Apple Notary Service that is completely blocking our production pipeline. For the past three days, every single submission has been stuck in the "In Progress" state indefinitely. Some submissions have been pending for over 48 hours, and none of them ever proceed to analysis. When checking the status via xcrun notarytool history, all entries show "In Progress". Attempting to retrieve logs with xcrun notarytool log always returns: Submission log is not yet available. This strongly suggests that the processing hasn't even started. This issue occurs consistently from my local machine (MacBook Air M3) and Our GitHub Actions CI workflow. Both environments are properly configured with Electron + Electron-Builder, and the app is correctly signed and uploaded each time. We have verified multiple times all credentials and code signing settings, no exceptions so far or problems in the pipeline. I've been successfully notarizing my apps for a year or so now, with intermittent releases every so often, usually succeeding with notarization in a couple of minutes. These apps are all written in Python, but I worked through all the jank required to get them to notarize cleanly a while ago and have no issues since. Today I submitted a couple of builds which have been stuck for hours. They're just "in progress", so no logs I can look at, no emails or anything on my developer account page. How can I begin to debug this?
