How can I check the status of my program enrollment?

You can check the status of your program enrollment on Member Center home page. Be sure to sign in to Member Center with the Apple ID you used to enroll.

Do I need a Mac to develop iOS apps for the App Store?

Yes. You must have an Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or later to develop iOS apps for the App Store.

What are the fees associated with being an iOS developer?

The iOS Developer Program annual fee is $99, and in local currency where available. The iOS Developer Enterprise Program annual fee is $299, and in local currency where available. The iOS Developer University Program is free.

Which iOS Developer Program should I join?

Individuals and companies who intend to develop apps for distribution on the App Store should enroll in the standard iOS Developer Program. Join as an individual if you are a sole proprietor or if you develop under your own name. Join as a company if you are a company, non-profit organization, joint venture, partnership, or government organization.

What will I need to enroll in the iOS Developer Program?

Individuals enrolling in the iOS Developer Program will need:

  • Legal name and contact information. Your legal name will appear as the “Seller” in the App Store.
  • A valid credit card for purchase.
  • We may also require additional personal documentation to verify your identity.

Companies/Organizations enrolling in the iOS Developer Program will need:

  • The legal authority to bind your company/organization to Apple Developer Program legal agreements.
  • A registered legal entity name. This name will appear as the "Seller" in the App Store. We do not accept DBAs, Fictitious Businesses, Trade names, or branches.
  • Address for the company’s principal place of business or corporate headquarters.
  • A D-U-N-S Number assigned to a legal entity. Learn more.
  • A valid credit card for purchase.

I already have an iTunes Connect account to sell another media type (books, music, TV content, or movies). Can I use the Apple ID associated with that account to enroll in the iOS Developer Program?

No. If you currently have an iTunes Connect account to sell another media type, you cannot use the Apple ID associated with that iTunes Connect account to enroll in the iOS Developer Program. You’ll need to set up a new Apple ID and use it to enroll in the iOS Developer Program.

I'm already enrolled in the Mac Developer Program. Can I add the iOS Developer Program to my existing account?

Yes. Sign in to Member Center and go to the Your Account page to purchase and activate the iOS Developer Program. You can use the same Apple ID to manage your iOS apps in iTunes Connect.

I am already enrolled in the iOS Developer Enterprise Program. Can I add the iOS Developer Program to my existing account?

No. If you would like to distribute apps on the App Store, you must set up a new Apple ID to enroll in the iOS Developer Program.

Can I enter an alias/nickname when I enroll?

No. You must enter your legal first and last name when enrolling in the iOS Developer Program. Do not enter an alias, nickname, or company name as your first or last name during the enrollment process. Entering your legal name incorrectly will cause a delay in the approval of your enrollment.

Can I enroll as an individual and have my company appear as the “Seller” on the App Store?

No. To have your company name appear as the “Seller” on the App Store, your company must be recognized as a legal entity and you must be enrolled as a company/organization. If you are a sole proprietor you must join as an individual and your legal name will appear as the “Seller”.

Who should enroll in the iOS Developer Program on behalf of my company/organization?

The employee enrolling must have the legal authority to bind your company/organization to the Apple Developer Program legal agreements. This can include your company's founder/co-founder, executive team member or senior project lead.

I'm a contractor who develops apps for companies other than my own. How do I ensure my client's name is listed as the “Seller” on the App Store?

If your client plans to distribute the apps you create for them on the App Store with their legal entity name as the “Seller”, they must enroll in the iOS Developer Program. They can add you as a member of their development team so you can access the resources you need to create the app. While they must be the one who submits the app for review, you can assist them if necessary.

I'm a contractor developing custom apps for use within my client's business. What program should I enroll in?

If you are creating custom apps for use within your client's business, you need to enroll in the iOS Developer Program and your client needs to enroll in the Volume Purchase Program to access their custom B2B apps. You can make the apps available to them on the Volume Purchase Program website. Learn more.

I've hired a contractor to create my apps. Should I enroll in the iOS Developer Program?

If you plan to distribute apps on the App Store with your legal entity name as the “Seller”, you need to enroll in the iOS Developer Program. You can add your contractor to your development team so they can access the resources they need to create the app through your account. Do this by inviting them to your team through the People page in Member Center. While you must be the one who submits the app for review, you can get assistance from your contractor.

If your contractor is creating custom B2B apps for use within your business, enroll in the Volume Purchase Program. Your contractor should enroll in the iOS Developer Program to develop and submit your apps to the Volume Purchase Program. You can download your apps on the program website. Learn more.

Is there an iOS Developer Program for students? Do students receive any discounts?

No, we do not currently offer a student iOS Developer Program or student discounts. Students enrolled at a degree granting higher education institution may be invited to participate in the iOS Developer University Program if their institution is enrolled in the Program and their Course Instructor invites them to participate.
