Why do I need to join the Safari Developer Program to develop and distribute Safari extensions?

To distribute a Safari extension, it must contain a signed digital certificate. The ability to create a signed digital certificate is only available to Safari Developer Program members.

What are the system requirements for participating in the Safari Developer Program?

To develop Safari extensions and participate in the Safari Developer Program you must have the latest Safari release installed on your Mac or PC.

What are the fees associated with the Safari Developer Program?

The Safari Developer Program is free.

How do I join the Safari Developer Program?

Developers may enroll in the Safari Developer Program as either an individual or a company by visiting the Safari Developer Program page. Once the enrollment process is complete, you’ll be directed through the activation process.

Should I enroll as a company or as an individual?

Join as an individual if you are a sole proprietor/single person business or if you develop under your own name. Join as a company if you are a company, non-profit organization, joint venture, partnership, or government organization. A D‑U‑N‑S® Number from Dun & Bradstreet is required as part of the company enrollment process. Learn more.

What will I need to enroll in the Safari Developer Program?

Individuals enrolling in the Safari Developer Program will need:

  • Apple ID and password associated with your registered Apple Developer account.
  • Legal name and contact information.

Companies/Organizations enrolling in the Safari Developer Program will need:

  • The legal authority to bind your company/organization to Apple Developer Program legal agreements.
  • A registered legal entity name. We do not accept DBAs, Fictitious Businesses, Trade names, or branches.
  • Address for the company’s principal place of business or corporate headquarters.
  • A D-U-N-S Number assigned to a legal entity. Learn more.

Can I use an existing Apple ID to register as an Apple Developer or enroll in the Safari Developer Program?

Yes. You may use your existing Apple ID to register as an Apple Developer and enroll in the Safari Developer Program. If you are already enrolled in the iOS Developer Program or the Mac Developer Program, sign in to Member Center and go to the Your Account page to add the Safari Developer Program to your existing account.

Can I enter an alias/nickname when I enroll?

No. You must enter your legal first and last name when enrolling in the Safari Developer Program. Do not enter an alias, nickname, or company name as your first or last name during the enrollment process. Entering your legal name incorrectly will cause a delay in the approval of your enrollment.

Who should enroll in the Safari Developer Program on behalf of my company/organization?

The employee enrolling must have the legal authority to bind your company/organization to the Apple Developer Program legal agreements. This can include your company's founder/co-founder, executive team member or senior project lead.

How can I distribute my Safari extensions?

You can distribute your extensions from your own website. If you are a member of the Safari Developer Program, you can also submit your extensions to be considered for the Safari Extensions Gallery.

How can I receive technical support as a Safari Developer Program member?

As a member of the Safari Developer Program you can purchase Technical Support Incidents to receive technical support from Apple. You can also post questions to the Apple Developer Forums.
