Pay-what-you-want app price

Hello,

I want to publish an app. The app should be sold on a pay-what-you-want basis or maybe even a pay-what-you-want subscription model.

I don't see a why to do anything like this with the options Apple offers me.

What are my optinos? How can I proceed?

Kind regards and Thank you for you help.

If you mean such as $7.34, correct. And don't be confused by the App Store Review Guideline's claim that 'pricing is up to you'.

There are no free-form pricing options in that example, only the mandate by Apple to utilize the store's fixed payment tiers (see your dev agreement) as provided via App Store Connect's pricing & "in-app purchase currencies".

It's up to the dev to offer structured payment schemes based on those tiers, giving users choices over a lo/hi cost range that appeals to various needs, budgets etc.

You could make the app free with an IAP which doesn’t do much. Just something cosmetic. Then you could offer different IAP products at different prices. They would all have to fit into Apple’s price tier system of course, so not truly arbitrary prices, but then at least users could choose any amount to the nearest dollar.

Expanding on what others have written - you can make the app free and have a $0.99 consumable IAP called "thank you points". Each "thank you point" needs to do something to be 'consumed' - so, for example, have each one light up a little banner with something that says "I contributed" and include fireworks and noise - have fun with it. The user can purchase as many "thank you points" as they wish.

There is no way to make this be in increments other than 0.99.
