Of the 3 betas I've tried thus far (I skipped 1) this is the worst of the lot for battery life. I did do the update and restored from previous, so could try a configuration as a new device. But haven't changed any operating parameter I'm aware of.
Is it just me?
Updated from beta 4, so far has been impressive for me. Still have 78% of charge left after 8 hours of wearing it.
Worst battery life for the watch. Battery doesn't last me even 8 hrs. Beta4 was pretty good.
agreed, battery life is much worse than beta 4 (which was pretty good). I did a setup as a new watch but this didn't help a bit. Right now it's at 47% after being awake for 2,5 hours??
It about 4.22% per hour in my 42mm apple watch, which means nearly 24 hours with a full charge.
I wonder with the watch having nothing but a stock out of the box software load there's such wide variation this go round. Up 1.5 hours, used 11% so far

Hi John,
A particular configuration of settings could be could be benign in one Beta but troublesome for another. I suggest you do configure as new device with the latest beta - it is likely you will have better much better battery life.

Beta 4 for me was fine for battery, an improvement over watchos 1.
Beta 5 is terrible. I'm losing 25% in under an hour at the moment from full charge. It gets better, but only just. My watch has been off the charger for just about 4 hours and I have 24% charge left. At this point the watch is almost useless.
IT's worth noting that I'm not interacting with the watch to get anything other than time today and an occasional check on the battery.
Max108 has the right idea. My battery has been draining in less than 8 hours. Set it up as a new watch today and now my battery is back to normal.
battery life is very bad for me since beta 5. Tried all suggestions and even set it up as a new watch (which was a pain since I needed to deactivate iMessage and logged out of icloud and AppStore). After that I upgraded ios9 also to the newest release, but still no improvement. Got a detailed log of the things I did. Right now it's about 4-6 hours between needing a recharge. My workaround today was to activate airplane mode because at least the activity tracking then functions but it's not much of a smart watch right now, even so this gives me about 18 hours of battery live (still bad probably for airplane mode). Also tried disabling difficult complications that do updates. Had almost no effect.
Maybe I'll try the setup as new watch again now that both watchOS and ios are on the same beta version?
Had the same issue. Seemed to be stuck installing apps. Instagram and dark sky seemed to be stuck on 'installing' in the watch app but they worked fine on the watch. I was unable to uninstall them. Have a fresh restore now and haven't installed any apps yet. Lasted me all day today since 630 this morning and have 58% left. Hope this helps.
Battery life is worse for me.
With 1.0.1 I was getting almost two full days whilst with beta 5 I'm just about making it to the end of the day. I haven't installed any other apps or made any other changes to my usage so I assume that the OS version is the only culprit
everything is fine again. What finally did it for me was:
Today I had 77% after 4,5 hours of use including being active, dismissing notifications and showing weather complication.
It really seems that the intimacy in communication between watch and phone is from a kind that it breaks battery life very easy if not everything is completely in sync 🙂
I'd run that same list. Did **** out the phone and start from scratch, and restarted the iphone of all things. Battery life soard. Currently at 44% after 15 hours.
I'll never grasp what goes on.
For me Beta 4 was the worst. Beta 5 has been good, at some point I went about 36 hours with a single charge with Beta 5
