Transfer app from expired account

Hello Everyone,

My friend's apple dev account has got expired and he is busy with his own work and was not able to manage his app. His account expired a month ago, is it possible for him to transfer his app(From an expired account) to my account(active) ? Looking forward for a solution.

Thanks,

Dhanabalan

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your friend needs to reactivate his account in order to initiate the transfer to you. There is no other way.

Have a look at what the iTunes Connect Developer Guide has to say about the matter:

https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/LanguagesUtilities/Conceptual/iTunesConnect_Guide/Chapters/TransferringAndDeletingApps.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40011225-CH31-SW1

It might be easier for you now if you get the source, create a new bundleID and then build and publish/upload to your own account.

What would happen if the expired account is renewed? There would be two 'same' apps under different accounts?

Sorry for posting in an 'old' thread, but I thought it better to have the information in one thread.

You mean if a new app was made from the original project and the old app came back to life in the store? The assumption is that won't happen.

If it's a concern, I'd make a plan with all involved, before taking any action to make a new app with the old project - but if anything should be worked out, it should be to renew the expired account just for the transfer.

Where does it state that your developer account must be active? All I see is, "Make sure your accounts aren’t in a pending or changing state."

I want to verify that it has to be active before spending the money to renew...
