What happend in El Capitan to break so much Audio Gear?

I just want to know why this page exists:

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8801

Why is it my 2000$ rane mixer is no longer compatible with the latest Apple OS? It's not firewire, it's USB, so firewire support isn't the issue.

Why is apple abandoning the creative community? DJs, muscicains and artists putting their apple laptops on display while they work is surely a huge draw for Apple, and yet the latest release goes and screws over most musicians and DJs who use their product and I can't find anything online as to why.

What exactly happend that so much audio related gear is so hard to support?

Which version OS X are you on?

I use NI plugins some other VST without any big issue but I build most libs from source.

Apple has deleted deprecated methods / functions / types in the Core Audio framework.

It is not a suprise - it was commited for all developer.

If you have any issues, please send it to the developer of the driver or manufacture of your device...

Cheers

:-)

Thanks, could you delve any further into the technology?

For example, I know opengl screen capture was deprecated for fear that having direct access to what's written to the screen makes copying movies a breeze.

I'm having real trouble understanding this particular deprecation and why it effects so many big name brands in the the music industry, I get that stuff get deprecated, but what exactly are the alternatives and why didn't so many big name brands take advantege of them?

Audio isn't my speciality

Does anyone know what is happening with this issue? is it being seen to?
I own a Rane SL3 and currently due to this Core Audio issue my device cant be used with my Macbook on El Capitan

Say goodbye to the headphone jack as well - say hello to USB-C.

its up to support by the developer of your gear-driver...

Apple as warnt the developer by building new drivers for a new system-build... - also when written an AU-Plugin or something was programmed via AudioCore...

The problem is, that Apple has no new SDK for the ”brand new“ system...

Apple trust in - “What's work - should be work” - but this is not true...

Only possible way is to wait for new SDKs from Apple...

Cheers

It seems this problem is entirely in Apple's court and they have fundamentaly broken an aspect of the USB standard for audio, see Rane's post on the subject:

http://dj.rane.com/support/knowledge-base/el-capitan-update

How long does it take to get an question moderated? I got it, no foul language or rehashing orignial posts, but this is a huge issue for anyone with pro audio gear, it looks like the suppliers are to blame, but Apple has broken something that no spotify yealding weekend dj is gonna care about and you're burying my comments under moderation.

The best way to avoid being in perpetual moderation, is to avoid live links...or...geld them, like this:

h t t p : / / www.cnn.com

I am in the same boat except I paid much more than $2000 for my rane mixer.

I have never been so upset with a manuacturer as well as apple. I'm sick of this, "its his fault, no, its his fault" bs, because thats what I'm hearing.

APPLE--RANE(or any manufacturer for that matter that uses your operating system) helps generate revenue for your products--why not work together and sort this driver/new operating system compatibility thing out.

Get it fixed in a timely matter equals happy customers who bought both products from apple and said manufacturer. Does apple not have the resources/department to handle something like this--I thought of all companies APPLE would have a good grip on this matter.

BTW this is what rane officially stated:

Status - Jan 20, 2016

The Apple bug for Rane’s Core Audio USB driver-based products (all listed above except the MP2015 & TTM57mkII) RADAR 23709607, is still open and pending further action from Apple. However, the new El Capitan 10.11.4 Beta #1 build appears to have improved the symptoms of this bug. Audio streaming works better than it did in previous versions of El Capitan, but is still far from perfect. We are continuing to work closely with Apple on resolving this issue as soon as possible.

Please note: El Capitan 10.11.4 is currently not released to the public yet. It is only the first beta build. Apple typically has 2 or 3 beta builds before a version is released to the public. If you are an Apple Developer, you can download and try out the latest beta here: https://beta.apple.com/

SO it does look like its in APPLE's hands not the manufacturer.

I still can't believe is still not been fixed by Apple. and i see this forum pointless if there is not a Apple Dev using it. It just seems we get ignored by Apple if we have a problem with their OS.

The problem is not up to Apple to fix. Apple does not manufacture your audio gear.

Apple has no way to know what support your device needs. Apple manufactures

the computer and the OS. It's up to whoever makes your third party gear to make

it work, not Apple.
