Is Split View working for anyone in this DP1? I don't see any references in the seed notes but I can't make it work at all.
Is Split View working for anyone?
Working for me. Drag a window from your current desktop to the space with the full screen app using the Spaces view with a hot corner.
That's what I did, it is not working. It just shows a blocked cursor when I tried to drag an app onto a full screen app in mission control.
Did it work for you using any apps or what did you test?
Took me a few but you have to do the following:
- three finger swipe up (gesture)
- drag the activte desktop screen on top of an existing desktop
- drag the activate desktop window on top of the new desktop toolbar and into a new desktop view.
Doesn't work for me either - I get the same blocked cursor when trying to drag onto full screen app, and all permutations of holding on the green fullscreen button do nothing. Didn't see anything about it being disabled in this build.
12" Retina MacBook here.
You have to press and hold the green button of the window (the full screen button). Then drag to either left or right half of the screen 🙂
That doesn't work.
I even watched the video very carefully, everything Craig did, didn't even behave the same way. For an example, dragging an app onto a full screen app is supposed to show the + button to split it but it didn't.
I think this feature is not available for all Macs yet. I'm using '12 rMBP.
Works for me on MacBook Air. One application must be in full screen, the other not.
An example:
1. Set Safari to full screen.
2. Use four finger up gesture to get to Mission Control bar.
3. Drag Mail onto Safari. Full screen changes to Safari and Mail
Split screen can then be adjusted in the new full view.
Hmm I was thinking: is it a 13" rMBP? If so maybe Split View isn't available for all _screen_ sizes yet (since it doesn't work on my 12" rMB either). If so, can you try plugging into an external monitor and seeing if it works there?
Maybe it doesn't work for all Macs yet but it did work for me on Mac Pro 2013.
Steps for me are.
- Open Mission Control (Ctrl + Up Arrow)
- Drag first app to fullscreen
- drag second app to same fullscreen space and the + button appears on the left or right.
Dragging the green fullscreen button did not work for me.
Just tried that - no luck. Still doesn't work for me on 2015 12" rMB.
15" rMBP here.
Yea, as mentioned before, it doesn't work on '12 15" rMBP.
It appears to be exclusive to certain Macs at the moment.
Same mac as melt, it didn't work.
So, the theory right now is that it only works on certain Macs. I suspect they'll fix this in the next few betas.
I'm using 13" Macbook Pro Mid-2010, works fine for me. DId you wait for a second while holding down the full screen button?
If you're seeing a + button on the full screen, try holding option key i guess to make it a full screen button showing arrows pointing outwards.
