Is Split View working for anyone?

Is Split View working for anyone in this DP1? I don't see any references in the seed notes but I can't make it work at all.

Yes, it's working just drag-and-drop an app on a space with a full screen app

Just an update: I've updated my iMac 5K to 10.11 and can confirm Split View works there. So, it seems more likely there's an issue specific to certain configurations.

This does work with most windows that can be resized. Tried it with finder and safari, seems to work fine for me!

From what I can tell, it looks like it's based on the acutal applications...

For instance, if I have Messages in Full Screen first, then try and drag up the Hangouts to get the Split View, it doesn't work.

However, if I have Hangouts Full Screen first, then do the same with Messages, THEN it works.

Scott

Works here on a 24in Mid 2007 iMac

I can confim it works on a 12" mbr using the instructions in this thread.

This worked for me using this method. I have been tryng to do it since install of DP1. Thanks for that. If it helps im using a 13 inch MBP

Works fine on my '12 rMBP. I doubt it is related to certain configurations. Just click and hold on a non-fullscreen window's green button (i.e. Chrome) and it'll allow you to drag it to a side.

I figured out the problem.

Split View requires displays to have separate spaces. Go to Sys Prefs > Mission Control and check Display have separate spaces.

Once you log out and back in, Split VIew should work.

Also, make sure that the Application isn't assigned to a specific space or all spaces as found in contextual menu>options on an App icon in the Dock.

Read the release notes. It explains it in detail.

I had to read it, it's trocky to explain.

People: read the documentation

Split View

You can now put two windows in a full-screen space. These windows may belong to the same application or two different applications.

There are two ways to create a split-view space. First, you can long-press on the green full-screen button of a window that supports full screen. Place the first window on one half of the screen, then choose a second window from an exposé arrangement of eligible windows.

Alternatively, you can drag a window that supports full screen up through the menu bar to open Mission Control. In Mission Control’s Spaces Bar, you are given an option to create a new full-screen space. You can then select a second window and drag it on top of the full-screen thumbnail to create a split view.

Window minimum sizes are respected, so you are only able to combine two windows if their combined minimum widths fit within the width of the screen.

Once in a split-view space, you can drag the divider between the two windows left or right to resize them. You can drag the toolbar of either window to the other side to cause the two windows to swap sides.
