iOS 9 beta iCloud backup can't be deleted

I had iOS 9 beta for a little while and my iCloud did a backup, then I downgraded to iOS 8.3 due to bugs, and I wanted to delete my backup for extra storage, but it won't let me do it on any platform (iPhone, Mac). What should I do because I need that storage

I have the same problem:

2GB of phantom backups that cannot be deleted or viewed on iCloud settings.

1 iPhone iOS 8.4

1 iPad iOS 9.0 Pubic Beta

because of that I cannot use anymore iCloud backup

Dear all,

I had these issues, and I found that on my Mac I could see and delete all backups through the iCloud Settings app.

On my phone I could only see the iOS9 backup and was told I had plenty of free space, but also told when trying to backup that I didn't have enough. After speaking with Apple I learned this was because an old iOS8 backup was still in place (usually the backups are updated incrementally, not a whole fresh one created). This meant I ran out of space. As I'd been on the beta for such a long time and didn't want to roll back I deleted the iOS8 backup via my Mac.

I still occasionally get messages telling me I haven't backed up in weeks, though my latest backup is always very recent.

I think backup management may have improved with later betas as my were getting larger and larger and larger but now seem to be at a stable size.

Tom

This doesnt work for me.

I agree.

I had this problem from beta 1 and finally found a solution that worked for me so here's my story. I downloaded beta 1 on my iPad Air and iPhone 5s, but never updated my daily driver (iPhone 6). When I updated to beta 1 performance was terrible on my iPad that I decided to delete it and go back to 8.3 at the time. That is when I noticed on on iPhone 6 (8.3) in the iCloud settings it was showing 8.9 gb of backup. I tried to delete this "phantom backup" on my 5s (9.0b1) and there was none to delete. After a couple months and re checking this forum and updating my 5s with the current betas, I decided to download the current public beta back on my iPad Air since people were saying how stable it was. When the iPad was updated to 9.0 pb3, I was able to delete the phantom backup! I would suggest to "backup to iCloud" on all iOS devices that are running iOS 9 and let them complete but before you backup, uncheck every app in the menu so you backup size is small (225mb). Once backup is completed, turn off "backup to iCloud" and then delete the completed backup. When you complete a backup in iCloud it will replace the phantom backup thus allowing you to delete a tangible backup from the iCloud server.

I noticed yesterday that all my phantom backups are gone and I have all my free space back. Maybe Apple fixed this to get ready for the GM release tomorrow (hopefully)?

Same for me - all back-up is gone....

Same here, all backups gone. Also, can no longer complete a new backup. Get a message that says "The last backup could not be completed."

Seems they blocked iOS9 Beta Backups.

iPad on iOS 8.4 is still working - iPhone on iOS 9 Beta not.

Mine too, all backup gone and the available storage is 18.3 out of 20 GB. Also I can't backup "The last backup could not be completed", and it shows my last backup is on 10 of July as showing 0 KB my phone's backup and 1.5 GB iCloud Photo Library.

Thanks. That trick worked for me as well. After the "last" retry the assumed size of the next backup was displayed correctly and the backup finally went through successfully.

Same problem. iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 9.0 GM.

I also have the same issue. I'm still running beta 5, and there is no backup on iCloud. When I try to back up, it says "the last backup could not be completed." My last backup is back in July 10. Other iOS 8.x backups are fine.

Just finished a Backup on 9.1 Beta 1

Has anyone had any luck wtih downloading 9.1 via itunes and not having to restore from icloud because their data just transfered over with the update?
