Beta 2 did not do this...
Mine does it even when not connected to a power source... I had it taken into repair because of a broken screen and when they replaced it I came back and the Vibration and power button didn't work. They "Fixed It" and basically told me "Hey this is Apple software not us" so I downgraded, and it didn't work. Then I realized that my screen was popping out, flashlight doesn't work, and rotation is broken. Nice Job Bootleg repair place!!
for any Heat/power related issues - I reset network settings ..
Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings <-- Be prepared to re-enter Wifi Passwords, and VPN settings that are not entered via a system profile.
I have the same problem with beta 3
I noticed that the issue for me only appears when the phone is connected to a power source and a Wi-Fi network at the same time.
Devices tend to heat up during charging... It is complete normal, and it has nothing to do with iOS 10 beta.
It never happened on the prior betas or iOS 9
That's true, I guess it's intensely analyzing photos for the new memories feature (I have a huge library)... But it's only a speculation
This is definitely not a completely normal level of heat for charging, thanks. It started with the latest iOS 10 beta version, so it's almost certainly related.
Did not seem to happpen while plugged in with wifi turned off.
I have noticed the same, and have awoke to a hot phone has not fully charged after being connected to power overnight. Also started with Beta 3 install.
I've experienced this issue with just about every bata from years gone by to now. When I have this issue I do two things:
1. Perform a hard restart.
2. Turning off auto sending of diagnostic & usage data (Settings/Privacy/Diagnostics & Usage).
As always, you should submit a bug report to Apple.
I thought I was imagining it! The house has been quite warm over the past few weeks (summer), but now when I charge my 6S+ in its official Apple-brand slip case, it cooks. If I forget to remove the lead when it is fully charged, it is still really hot several hours later. Funny thing is, that if I plug the phone in to charge while watching Netflix at full brightness, the phone gets quite warm, but nowhere near as warm as when it is charging with the screen off. I'm wondering if the battery is being overcharged and that's what is causing the extra heating?
After installing Beta 3 I have noticed that the iPhone 6s Plus is always warm/hot when I am going to remove it from the charger (Apple white dock) the next morning (it will be charged at 100%), it never did it before Beta 3, with Beta 1 and 2 and iOS 9.3.X, any idea what could be the cause? Thanks
NOTE: I've tried different docks, cables and AC adapter, all genuine Apple accessories
I recorded some logs while the iPhone was hot and:
1) CPU was loaded at 100% with backupd and atc processes at 30/40% each
2) There were tons of errors of backupd and atc: "Failed to resolve pairing ID ((null)) or data store ((null)) for active device"
3) Errors were more than 64000 in 60 seconds!
So I disabled the backup to iCloud and iPhone has never warmed up since them
Thanks, you saved my life. 🙂
