We are pleased to announce Search Ads has opened for campaign set up. You can sign up to get started at searchads.apple.com.

Ads will go live on the App Store on October 5. Until then, your campaign status will show on hold.

Here are a few tips to help you prepare:

Optimize your app metadata.

As Search Ads automatically creates your ads using the metadata and imagery provided in your App Store listing, make sure your app title, description and keywords are accurate, up to date and the best representation of your app content. Follow these great tips for optimizing for App Store search.

Have your Apple ID ready.

When signing up for Search Ads use the Apple ID that is associated with the account for the app(s) you want to promote. This will ensure you can use all the customer type refinement features available in Search Ads.

If another user with a different Apple ID has already created a Search Ads account, and linked it to the same iTunes Connect account, you will need to contact them for access.

Determine your max CPT bid.

If you are not sure where to start in setting your default max cost-per-tap (CPT) bid, consider how much you can spend to acquire a new customer or action. For example, if you can afford to spend up to $2.50 to acquire each new customer, and you estimate that 40% of the people who tap on your ad will download your app, you can spend up to 40% of $2.50, or $1.00 for each tap on your ad.

Enable Search Match.

Make sure to have Search Match enabled so your ad is automatically matched to relevant user searches on the App Store. Even if you plan to add your own keywords, Search Match is a great way to expand your reach and discover relevant keywords that you may not have considered.
