I recently updated to Mac OS BigSur and it was fine, of course a lot of softwares weren't working but it's common right? What's the main problem is that my mac's screen started blinking crazy that I can't use it now. The screen is going bonkers blinking. Is it just me?
Big Sur update is causing extensive screen flickering
You are not alone. But it is not that crazy here. It is in a workable condition.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014
Installed Mac OS 11.01 Big Sur
Worked without problems for first day.
Second day I shut the screen to move to another location and when I opened up screen was black.
After force quit and restart it was back to black screen.
Ran through all the usual key presses on startup to try and get the screen back with no luck.
Plugged into an external monitor restarted and the external monitor came up no problem. MacBook screen black with a slight visible difference using brightness 🔆 🔅 keys.
Then without touching anything MacBook screen came back no issues looked great. Then 5-10 mins later a visible static across the screen and it is gone again.
Shutdown Start and restart had the same a few times but currently not working other than on external monitor.
Apple please fix this is obviously related to Big Sur.

same here i have a MacBook Pro 13-inch 2019 model, Aldo It has a keyboard problem, I still use it for daily usage, but im also having the problem of screen flickering as of now, It affects the lower part of my screen I tried everything to fix it, but my last solution is to downgrade back to Catalina. I hope apple can see this and consider fixing the problem for all MacBook, or Mac users that are effected.
I never head a problem with macOS Catalina but macOS Big Sur seemed promising until now, please apple fix this problem...
and i also figure out that some big Sur beta users experience this problem before the official release, so i considers this problem a software problem.

Same here. 2017 15" MBP here and the screen started flickering after updating to Big Sur. It's most evident when I run it in dark mode. Keyboard inputs also seem to trigger the screen, the inputs amplify the flickering and make it more frequent.
PLEASE FIX IT APPLE!
PLEASE FIX IT APPLE!
I tried erasing my HD and installing Big Sur from an external drive as recommended by some troubleshooting accounts and it helped for about ten seconds, but now the flickering is back, most pronounced when using Photoshop and moving images around. Help!
I have MacBook Pro 16" 2019 model. Just updated to Big Sur on Nov 27. Since the update every time I close the lid, the laptop shuts down abruptly. It takes forever to turn it on again and it shows sleep wake failure error. It's been happening quite often now. I tried NVRAM reset, reinstalling the OS as well. But the problem still persists.
I'm having the same issue here.
MacBook Pro 2019
After that I update from Catalina to Big Sur the computer became almost unusable.
Using Safari, Google Chrome or other applications it's very probable that after a while I had to restart computer because the screen get stuck flickering.

I also recently updated my 2019 MacBook Pro 16" with macOS Big Sur and since I constantly encounter glitches and display flickering. I also see random rectangles on my screen.
I'm driving 2 4K monitors and a 27" monitor with my 2017 MacBook Pro...having the same problems as everyone else. I had flickering with a few of the monitors and reseated them and it seems to go away. Comes back intermittently.
What is more odd is that when I come out of sleep mode it takes forever for the monitors to come back. Additionally, the display #'s in the OS get reassigned so applications don't stay on the monitors i assigned them to. Very frustrating.
I have secondary ports hooked up to my Windows gaming machine with no issue.
Very disappointed in this release, wish i would have waited.

I have a MacBook Pro 2017 13 inch model and I updated last weekend to Big Sur, and every so often, the screen just freezes and glitches. This especially happens during video calls and I have to restart the computer. I tried NVRAM reset and repairing the color profile and it goes away for a bit but then later it freezes again. Please fix this it is very annoying.
Hello,
I have a macbook pro Sierra 13 inch and after I updated my laptop to the Big Sur update, it started glitching and freezing a lot. I can't even do my school works or even search something on google because it's freezing too much, and I'm not even using that many browsers. When it starts to freeze there's a round loading rainbow thing comes up and it freezes for a moment and it loads, but sometimes during the loading it closes the web browser automatically. I really need to get my school works done bcs my finals and everything is coming, but what should I do to fix this problem?? Please help

Same here. Macbook Pro 2017 13'' no-touch-bar model. Before updating to Big Sur, I connected to 2 external HDMI monitors with no problem at all. Just after updated to Big Sur, now one of the external monitor will intermittently flicker (flashing or black for 2-3 seconds then come back), especially after sleeping for a while.
This is really annoying and deminishing the usability of Macbook! Please fix this ASAP, Apple! And please give it a thorough test before releasing a new OS!

I have the same annoying problem.
Playing video on Safari on full screen causes flickering of the whole screen. It's very annoying.

Same here. 2017 iMac Pro. Worked flawlessly until upgrade to Big Sur yesterday. 2nd screen is a brand-new 27 inch Samsung. Will flash every 2-3 seconds, drives me crazy when using Final Cut Pro. Kindly fix fast.
Me too. I'm running Big Sur on the new MBP 13 in w/M1 chip. Am also connected to an ultra wide LG Display. Am experiencing 2 distinct issues: 1. After sleep, logging in on big display (main screen) - the bkgnd image is the same size and shape as if I were logging into laptop. In other words, it's like looking at the laptop display footprint on the larger monitor or a square within a square. 2. Going Full Screen on Chrome 87.0.4280.88 (arm 64 build). Just to be clear, I have this setup for email/chat/calendar on laptop display. And when in FS I see annoying flickering. This doesn't happen when NOT in FS mode.
I have a similar (/same?) problem. Two displays. When opening some embedded pdfs and trying to view in Acrobat it's like the computer can't decide which display to view on and jumps between the two causing a flickering. And sometimes open app windows show when I view Mission Control but they do not appear on either display when I try to access the window, which isn't great!
Same issue here. Maddening screen flicker intermittently on the MBP 15" 2019, when plugged into LG 34".
Flickering is reportedly (in gaming forums) resolved in Big Sur 11.1 Developer Beta 2 (and presumably in the RC). Haven't personally tested yet but will report back.
I'm having the same flicker problem. Particularly bad when on Citrix logging in to remote work machines.
