Connection to Unprotected hotspot network throws unable to join pop up

We are trying to connect to a unprotected network with its ssid , making use of NEHostspotConfigurationManager. But almost all the time applying the hotspot config results in unable to join pop up with out any errors.

So we have done a sysdiagnose and checked the logs.

I am attaching the wifi manager logs as text.

in the logs at time stamp 10/27/2020 13:04:59.912
it shows as failed to join network still, with autojoin it managed to associate to the network ({AUTOJOIN, ASSOC*} Auto join association completed (-3936) with current state: Associating, network:)

Again with the next time stamp 10/27/2020 13:07:49.804
that shows wifi again failed to join the network but this time autojoin didn't come for help.

Instead "WiFiNetworkStoreController copyGeoTagsForNetwork:currentLocation:" is called and ultimately the network was not connected and error block was not called , but "Unable to join" pop up shown up.

Am I going wrong somewhere in handling the connection, please help me with this issue.

From the Wi-Fi side of this (Failed to join(-3906) is an unspecified failure error.
The -3937: KATAI-05f6ZuUN error is related to the BSS not acknowledging authentication.

Notice:

10/27/2020 13:07:49.806 __WiFiDeviceManagerUserForcedAssociationCallback: error -3937 reqInfo (null)

So it looks like either the KATAI-05f6ZuUN network does not allow open associations without a passcode or it is not configured correctly to accept incoming associations.

Thanks for the reply,

Following the leads that you shared,

We have tried "Wifi direct hotspot" with protected network so that we can avoid the case of open association.

We just try to switch to the wifi-direct hotspot (protected network) advertised from the device runs on android OS. From settings , it works no issues,
But while we do the switch using NEHotspotConfigurationManager, Unable to join pop up shows up.

Its a dead end for us now, as the issue might be a big drawback in the user experience.

Attaching the log
10/27/2020 22:14:09.629
on the above time stamp, its failed to join the access point,

Can you just confirm , what could be the connection problem even in a protected network

Did you try associating with NEHotspotConfigurationManager with a passcode on your hotspot?

@meaton,

Yes we have tried connecting to hotspot (protected) with passcode in NEHotspotConfiguration object.
But the NEHotspotConfigutationManager gives no error, but a system thrown error "Unable to join Network" shows up.
The diagnose log attached also has the corresponding logs..

For advanced help on this I will recommend that you open a TSI so that I can take a more thorough look at what is happening. Make sure to reference this post in the TSI so that this can get routed to me.
