Registering Developer Account in Thailand has been a failure and nightmare

For 26 days now I have been trying to register and pay for a new developer account in Thailand. The experience has been a complete and total disaster and failure at every step of the way.

I am at my wit's end and decided to register in the forums and share my experience with the hope of attracting a resolution.

This has materially hurt my business financially and competitively. I have been paying developers for almost 4 weeks now who have nothing to do because of this problem.

I have sent multiple emails, voice emails, made phone calls, international phone calls, all at our expense of time and money.

In contrast the Google Play account was opened and paid for within 24hrs on the same day.

Problems I have experienced with Apple:

  1. DUNS number didn't match business name despite Apple themselves sending me our DUNS number after its own lookup of our business name. Application rejected.

  2. Apple Developer App is unable to register new account from my iphone following the suggestion of Apple to use the app to register. Multiple error messages. Unable to register.

  3. After attempting again from a desktop to register, we entered payment information. Application unable to accept US Based credit cards, paypal, Thai prompt pay, bank transfer or Thai checking account. We paid with Thai debit card - card was successfully charged and I assumed account was open.

  4. After this payment, we were still not getting access in the account portal to add other admins and devs. So I contacted Apple and was told to reregister a new account. This was not an option as we already paid.

  5. After 2 weeks, our payment was reverted and refunded with no explanation whatsoever. Every back and forth email with Apple has taken 4 days or no response at all. There is no direct phone support with the payment department. Application was closed.

  6. After starting a new application from scratch, I called the Apple developer support center in Singapore. The issue was escalated and I was able to speak with a native english speaker. She informed me it would be 2-3 days for a response/resolution. It has been another week.

As of now, it has been 26 days of this. Frustrated doesn't appropriately begin to describe how me and my team are feeling.

This entire experience has been nothing short of a trainwreck. As of now we still do not have a developer account open and devs are still sitting doing nothing. I have no choice but to persist and endure with Apple because they have a monopoly on the App Store.

This entire problem could be solved with a single supervising team member with phone access to the payments department and access to the entire account to fix this problem immediately.

I am furious.

Sorry to hear about this. Do you have any case ID numbers for your issues? If you do, please post them here and I can pass them along to developer relations. However, most of the US employees are on break this week, so response times might be delayed. I would also try calling developer support in Singapore again about this.

To date there have been 5 case numbers generated for this single attempt to open a developer account.

The most recent and 'most promising' is 101570941539.

Other case numbers associated with this issue:

101565033500

101570941539

101583041022

101583040237

Day 27 - No response, No resolution.

Day 27 - Attempted to call internationally to Singapore developer support. Input my phone number for a call back when agent was ready. Was called back immediately and placed on hold for 35 minutes before hanging up.

Attempted to open developer account using different AppleID based in United States. Was double charged, and after logging in from portal, I am prompted to submit payment a third time.

Day 28 - Developer account still not opened. No response from Apple team regarding original post.

After attempting to open a personal developer account just to get the devs working, my credit card was charged 2 times for the same account (Day 27 above) and an additional time for another account. I now have a total of 3 charges ($300) to my credit card, none of which have resulted in successfully opened developer account. In addition to the original charge in the original post.

I will initiate chargebacks with the credit card company for these charges. Posting screenshot of Apple saying won't refund CC despite 3 charges to same card for same account.

Hello Bruno,

While reviewing your account, it seems like it was approved today and you have access to the program now. You mentioned 3 orders under this, but only one order actually went through and other two orders didn't get processed. If you are seeing any pending charges on your bank statement, they should clear based on which financial institution you have.

Day 29 - Looks like finally there is some progress. The main company developer account is now open and I was able to add devs to start working. Currently there is one posted charge to the credit card, and another pending charge. I can confirm one of the pending charges was removed, but there is still an open pending charge. There are three emails which tried to open accounts. bruno at beeprentals dot com (the correct one - company account), info at beeprentals dot com (a personal dev account attempt which was charged twice - needs to be removed), and bna858 at gmail dot com(a personal dev account which was charged once - needs to be removed). I do not know which charges correspond to which accounts. — BrunoNiko less than a minute ago
