Hi everybody!
I have a small a question about using Stripe for mobile application.
The idea behind the mobile app is to send gifts to other users. Gifts can also include a user-selected amount of money. Moreover, if the user who is given a gift is registered in the application earlier, he can put the amount of the gift on his internal balance. Can we use Stripe (with Apple Pay mechanisms) for these kinds of payments or do we still need to use Apple Inapp Purchasing mechanisms to avoid being banned?
According to the guidelines, you don't need inApp purchase for gifts, if you strictly respect some conditions
- you cannot keep a part of the gift, 100% must go to the receiver.
- the gift must not be associated to receiving any digital service. So check that the capability to
put the amount of the gift on his internal balancedoes not violate this rule.
3.2 Other Business Model Issues
3.2.1 Acceptable
(vii) Apps may enable individual users to give a monetary gift to another individual without using in-app purchase, provided that (a) the gift is a completely optional choice by the giver, and (b) 100% of the funds go to the receiver of the gift. However, a gift that is connected to or associated at any point in time with receiving digital content or services must use in-app purchase.
When submitting the app, you should explain this clearly in the "Comments to reviewer" section.
