we provide an enterprise App where the app functions a centrally configured and features are unlocked with a license key which is delivered via a MDM system (Microsoft Intune). As I understand the new guideline this is no longer allowed.
The alternatives to switch to In-App Purchases is not a viable way. Because we online sell subscriptions for the app to enterprise business. To switch to the Apple Abo model does not work, because VPP is not available for Abo payments and we have customers with MAM only configurations (only app configurations, without device management). In that cases VPP cannot be used.
I guess that are currently a lot very popular apps like Microsoft Word a running in the same problem. I can unlock the whole Microsoft Word App if I have a Microsoft Privat or Enterprise account with an active Microsoft subscription without any In-App purchase.
In chapter 3.1.3(c) of the new App Store Review Guidline there is an exception for Enterprise Services.
I'm not sure if an App like Microsoft Word or our App which is mainly a contact app for enterprises is included in this exception. Is the limitation to Microsoft Work and School accounts enough to be eligible as a Enterprise service? What is if we allow Microsoft privat accounts as well?
What is your opinion on this?
