I'm having trouble installing MacOS Ventura - Using external Hard Drive

Hello everybody,

I'm stuck with a MacBook Pro 128GB internal Hard Drive and I am trying to install MacOS Ventura using a 2TB external Hard Drive.

Step 1: I had format my External Hard Drive first, Format: APFS, Scheme: GUID Partition Map

Step 2: I opened MAcOS Ventura Installer on my internal Hard Drive

Step 3: Continue , Agree

Step 4: Select External Hard Drive (2 TB total, 2 TB available),

Error Message: "The current boot volume does not have enough free space to install. An additional 6.26 GB space is needed to install on this disk".

I have 2TB of space on the disk.

I appreciate your help and advice.

P.S. Internal Disk available space is 7GB

I got the same "The current boot volume does not have enough free space to install" error while trying to install Monterey on an external drive with terabytes of free space. Then I realized that "current boot volume" referred to my internal drive. I freed up 20 or 30GB on my internal drive, then the install worked. Good luck!
