can app content age restriction be reduced in future versions of app?

Is it possible to set up an app with more age restrictions (e.g. gambling involved), then

in the future remove features from the app such that it is more appropriate for lower age groups?

Or: once we set up an app w/ age restrictions, are we locked to that level in future version updates?

We got burned recently by accidentally setting / leaving the iPad support flag on in the build plist,

now we are locked to that (cannot remove a platform from the build according to app store auto-checkers).

And we dont want a repeat of that.

Thanks for any advice in this area, it is app-review related and somewhat difficult to parse in the docs.

Apple tends to push back when users already have an app with xyz features and the dev takes one or more of them away via an update.

As you noted, the simplest example may be trying to convert a Universal app to iPhone-only. Best to add features, not take them away.

In your gambling example, I don't think you can get there from here.
