Xcode failed to download app records from App Store Connect. There was an unexpected status code: 401.

I have recently updated to XCode Version 15.0 (15A240d) and MacOs Sonoma Version 14.0 (23A344).

After archiving and trying to distribute my app, I get the following error message:

Xcode failed to download app records from App Store Connect. There was an unexpected status code: 401.

What I have tried:

  • I have accepted all agreements on the AppDeveloper account
  • I have tried resetting Xcode and my machine
  • I have updated to the most recent versions of all of my software
  • Within Xcode, I have tried logging in and out of my Apple Developer account

Is anyone else having this issue as well?

I have same issue

I have a workaround solution which requires using the Apple Transporter MacOS application. It's quite unfortunate and annoying that my team needs to use yet another tool, due to Apple's inability to keep their software in working condition.

Steps:

  • Download the Apple Transporter app from the MacOS AppStore https://apps.apple.com/us/app/transporter/id1450874784?mt=12
  • Log In with your Apple credentials
  • Back in XCode, locate your archive that you were trying to distribute
  • Click Distribute App -> Custom -> App Store Connect -> Export
  • Back in Transporter, locate the .ipa file of your app that you exported

I have same issue 我的原因是:我的xcode登录的帐号与我电脑登录的APP ID 不一致, This is how I solved it:我在Xcode Setting->Accounts -> apple IDs 最下方的(-)减号 , 再点击加号添加与本电脑相同的帐号
